I fixed up the bonnet lettering successfully. Mine were very faded. Use a cheap paint pen like this one (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/120601960926'ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649). Colour in small circles, not straight lines. Two coats was good, three coats is great. I gave some corners of the letters that were especially smooth and worn a light sandpaper to make the paint stick.
