Recently I have noticed that my handbrake is getting very warm. Is this something I should be concerned about? Do you have any ideas of how to investigate?
Thanks

It's probably the menopause. Don't try to investigate yourself it could be dangerous.

Put a shade shelter over it so the sun can't get to it. The sun makes things hot.
(I have no useful input)

OK, attempt at useful post:
The handbrake is above the main gearbox. Check the oil level in the gearbox. If it's low the gearbox would heat up more than usual. Since it's mostly plastic around the centre console, the handbrake handle maybe the object that transfers the heat the most.
Plausible?
Edit: Or is the handbrake more above the transfer box? Check both oil levels!!

Handbrake on my Disco was getting very hot. Turns out it was a loose earth, the one near the battery and jack; a little bracket with three wires attached to it. The loose one was the closest to the engine and earths the body to the battery cable. No more hot handbrake. Hope this helps.:)

thats what i was going to mention. remember reading bout similar porblem few years ago which was electrical related and resulted in handbrake cables actually snapping because they were getting red hot.
i think it was about 4 years ago i read that.

I was about to suggest earth after reading the op.
I had a fire from mine. if the main earth is not connected, then the vehicle uses the hand brake cable as earth and it gets pretty hot. Enough to cause a fire as I found out on mine, luckily I was able to put it out.
