Finally got the RRS registered with VicRoads yesterday, so that's it, 12 months since I first asked on here about bringing it over, we're all sorted. BV55 YZE has now become YZE 481, couldn't believe it when the plates were handed over that the registration was similar to the UK one :D:cool::D

I can't believe it's 12 months since I put this first thread on the general chat forum http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/125329-importing-aus.html , time really has flown by but now I'm driving around in it here, all the hassle has been worth it.

I must say a huge thanks to everyone who commented on the original thread and subsequent ones, made contact with me with various bits of advice & their own experiences of shipping, plus those who made phone calls etc on my behalf without being asked, it's all been appreciated in a way that we can probably never repay, so again, I say thanks to everyone.

Now to get out and enjoy it. First trip out is this weekend, perhaps toward Lorne or to the Grampians. Maybe even just a wander down the road to the Mornington Peninsula, who knows. Bring it on :cool::cool:

Cheers
Mike

PS, excuse the legs, I'll put them away next time.

Well done Mike - and thanks for all the help you have given me with the RAI.

I guess if this pic was taken in UK you would have had socks on with those sandals :( - no socks means you are well on you way to being dinky di :D

I am sure you will get heaps of enjoyment with your G4 in Aust.

Cheers

Enjoy the G4 - it was made for places like this!

Still open to another vehicle joining us.

LOL

Neither me, nor the car are ready for that just yet. Lots to explore locally first, whilst learning / equipping the car and ourselves for everything. We need to sort out our camping setup, starting by hiring a camper trailer later this year to give that a crack.

At some point I do want to have a photo of it in front of Uluru, I reckon that could look pretty cool

Anyhoo, first stop this week will be trundling along to the LROCV on Thursday to see about joining.

No GB sticker, but I have used my old private plate with the euro GB logo on it, both as a mounting for the back plate and to cover up the additional holes drilled in the boot for the original plate. There's also 15 1" wide by 4" long numberplate sticky pads on the boot that are refusing to release their grip on the paintwork, so the plate's covering those as well.

I'll be picking up a suitable GB sticker next time I'm back in the UK though ;)

Hi Mike,
I drove past you today outside Woolworths in Ferntree Gully! I was in my wifes Commondore otherwise I would have tooted! The car looks like a beast in real life!:D The kids loved the ladder on the tailgate, they thought that was "awesome". Well done on getting it over here, see you around.

Well done Mike!
I'm in Parkdale too, so will be looking out for the beast - shouldn't be too hard to spot:)
