Hi,

I have purchased a IC400PRO.

Installed into my car. I have started to red the manual....it is in a foreign language!!!!

Any advise on setting this up would be gratefully received. Especially as I wish to use it on my Easter trip to Bendethera Valley.

Perhaps an 'idiot's guide to 'CB'ing.

cheers,

Chilly

Its easier if you have the progamming cable and softwear doing it off the radio is hard:( We have ousr programmed in 3 banks, cb, RFS and commercial havnt worried about programming scan in:)

PS: if it was new didnt it all ready have the CB channels programmed?

Chilly, I know whee you are coming from, the manual is a bit coded but keep reading. I did several times.

It should work fine as is out of the box. If not check aerial and UHF plug connection with the cable first. All soldered and in the right place.
The manual is mostly for tweaking things to your personal liking. Like transmission finished squelch beep, display light strength, Hi-low signal strength, and so on. All good easter fiddling. Upper and lower side channels will only work if your mates have similar capabilities. I have found there is alway one in the party who doesn't have this, so it's useless.

No upper/lower "side" channels on a UHF, can program in other frequencies but camt transmit on them unless you have the appropriate licence/permission

Thanks for that Sprint.
My UHF has scope to change the frequency on a set channel. I guess it's not really upper and lower, just half. Well that is if I have read the manual right, it has been a while.
Say we are on channel 21, I can go 21.5 but need all parties to have the facility.
Can't recall anything in the manual about a licence, sounds like I may have some Easter reading myself.

Sounds like you have the old version like me it can be reprogrammed to 12.5 khertz spacing that gives you 80 channels the new ones come programmed that way:)

I've yet to discover that little trick, even with the assistance of the programming cable/software it seems limited to programming a new and seperate channel/frequency..... otherwise you can use the selcall system.....
