Adjusting Doors

Hi All,

I am trying to adjust the doors on my 1961 Series 2 Truck Cab.

I have tried adjusting the hinges (top + bottom).
I have tried adjusting the striker plate.

If I slam the door it sits okay, but when you open the door it "sags" maybe 10mm.

Any tips or hints? It's driving me nuts!

I don't currently have any door rubbers installed - so the rubber aren't fowling the door. It just seems to be that the door isn't sitting correctly.

Any tips would be appreciated!

sounds like worn hinges.. try new ones? :)

it probably is,

but even new hinges have slop in them, if you are handy or know a tame fitter you could re-pin and bush the existing ones

When you close the door (slowly) is the bottom of the door riding up on the sill i.e. that 10mm drop you are seeing - is it rising up 10mm when you close the door and, if so, at what point of the closing operation?

When you look at the hinges, is there a small visible gap between the top of the hinge flange and the bottom that the brass ball fills?

I have a door hinge where the brass ball is so worn there is no gap at all and the hinge is just rubbing the top (moving) flange on the bottom (fixed) flange.

Also, look to see if the top hinge flange is rising up when you close the door.

If that is happening, you will not get it working (or adjusted) properly until you get the hinge running 'true'.
