Anyone got one? Gotta spend some money by the end of the financial year so I think it's time to let the xg panelvan go to rest:(

Wondering if they are alright from people's expeience?

My folks have a turbo diesel manual IMax, ie the version with seats and windows, it now has around 45,000km on it, of which I'm at fault for around 10,000. I've driven it to Adelaide and Melbourne as well as around town here, it's a good bus-warranty issues include...the reversing camera is a POS, but that was installed by the dealer not factory. No other problems to date.
Stereo sounds good with a bit of metal blaring, aircon great, power aplenty, space aplenty, sliding doors on both sides are the duck's nuts. Fits a pallet with a few cm to clear between rear wheel arches.
My folks tow an A-Van camper/caravan thing and it does reasonably well at that though I reckon they'll shorten clutch life a fair bit doing so-needs revs for boost to get things off the line when towing a tonne on a hill.
It also towed my IIa+trailer, all up a touch over 2 tonnes comfortably.

The thing I don't like about it is no matter how the seat is adjusted I have to drive with my right foot on an angle, so after half an hour or so I get a stiff ankle. The only comfortable way is to drive bare foot with just my big toe on the accelerator.

work bought one as a transportation vehicle for animals.. I have never personally driven it but the few people I have heard driving dont have a bad word to say about it

one comment I do recall is it drives just like a car not a van and handles quite well on the road

Matt, Hyundai have certainly improved their quality in recent times, I am guessing it won't be a long term keeper (What Korean built vehicle IS???) so for what you need it'll be excellent me thinks:)

Yea, it's merely a tool, once warranty is up I should be in quite a good financial position, own the home, have the renos somewhat done and the extra shedding built, albeit working 7 days :( that's the theory anyhow:D

Plus the panelwagon is getting a little unpresantable:D

They introduced the Iloads at my old work about 12 months before I split, replacing some of the old Transits. This was basically to do with cost, but the Iloads had made themselves quite liked in the short time I had anything to do with them. They aint no Transit, but are decent to drive. Didn't see any issues on any in that 12 months, and that company still uses some - they went back to Transits for some, as the Iload couldn't handle the weights that some of the Mechanics needed in the back, but where this weight isn't required, they use the Iloads, and I don't know of any issues they have had.

I have a Hyundai ix35 as a company car. Replaced falcons which caused a lot of problems. But after that as a car company really good. I have done 30,000 ks in about 5 months with not one problem so I would not have any problem buying another product from them.

If your looking for a van also have a look at the VW transporter. We bought a multivan( a 7seat version with airbags and captains chairs) after looking at imax as well as torago vigo and voyager. For us the VW was better set up and drove better we only got the base model but if I had a bit more cash would have got the awd. The transporter has the same option of either 102or132kw and AWD as well as the crew cab setup(4-5 seats).

Have spoken to several drivers that deliver into my Warehouse and pretty much they all say the same thing, "van at the rear" and a "car up front".
No other complaints from any of them.

Cheers,

Peter.

Maybe just give it a good buff here & there then should be OK for another 10yrs or so :)

Spend the money saved on the LR:):)

Dunno about the Korean vans, but we find the low-ace suits our needs. They aren't as good as they are made out to be though,oh and if you want something fixed under warranty, the stealers don't wanna help.

QPS use iLoads for their brawler vans and speed cameras. They seem to be pretty well built.

A while ago, I drove from Sydney to Melbourne and back in one... VERY comfy. From memory, it also had a 300,000km warranty. Like any van though, get the factory lining for noise reduction...

Near 3000kms, good thing for a boring ass work van......no cruise is rubbish though, 13.2/5 l/100, but generally towing and thrashing it with 3 ladders ontop, so can't complain, definitely no regrets spending the extra 2.5k on an auto:)

I think it rubbish compared to the Dak Dak, bouncy, gutless, the keyless entry remote is rubbish, car keeps locking and unlocking as you walk with the keys in your pocket, no cruise, no heated mirrors which would be handy, oh and that ding ding noise when you leave the keys in the ignition, ahhh. Cheap though and duel sliding doors is good. Blue tooth is good to. 7000k in, Think i will hand it down to the apprentice next financial, think i'll go back to the Dak Dak, long wheel base with duel sliders.:)
Oh and fuel consumtion not as good either, hyuandia tell fibs

I don't mind it, I own it and after 5 years and 160k it can go in the bin, it's paid for and does it's job, the chimes can be turned off

And 36k on the road I'm not one to complain

Vern

No, brakes are great; mind you I've only done 20,000km. Averaging 9L/100km over that time. Only gripe I have is the understeer on tight corners, maybe I need to slow down a little through roundabouts

Vern
29th October 2012, 07:29 PM
well I've now done about 21,000k and i'm not impressed. Front brakes shudder like crazy, gets bump steer, pulls to the right, has already worn a big hole in the carpet, ripped seat, sliding doors get stuck closed, rear door just popped open one day, gutless, thirsty, and doesn't handle that great.
I treat this car no different than my old VW, and apart from tyres wearing out, nothing went wrong with the thing.
Will be handing it over the the boys next year or my business partner, if he wants it.:(
I know its much cheaper than a dak dak, but i'm going back, its worth the extra $12k

Vern
29th October 2012, 07:32 PM
Oh and the handbrake is worse than anything landrover ever did, definately have to keep it in gear or it will just roll away.:(

As a courier iv driven a lot of different vans. At the smaller scale, fork out the extra and get a 1 ton hiace. You definitely won't regret it. Simple done well.

Vern
29th October 2012, 07:58 PM
Hiace are designed for short people, i'm far to tal (6'4.5"). I've had all sorts of work vans over the years, the vw is definately the best, although the next one will have a few more options. OR i'll get an Amarok as i'm trying to get off the tools a bit more.:)
