Hi Everyone, this is one for the motor bike guru's around the place (should i post this elsewhere)

I have just recently installed a 1998 FZS 600 Fazer motor in my self built Edge Minisprint dune buggy. After the mechanical installation we had to get all the ancillaries hooked up, however i dismantled the bike (a statutory writeoff, which had been lightly dropped) nearly 6 months ago. The only thing that has me stumped is 2 small diameter black rubber hoses that come out of the top of the carburettors, one on the right hand, and one on the left hand sides, they are connected to plugs that go into the head side part of the carburettor casting, as if they were to heat the chambers with radiator water and stop them iceing up. But they don't look green inside or smell of coolant????. The other thing they could be is air or breather lines, but i can't see why. The hoses are about 18 to 24 inches long, with about 5mm I.D. It seems to me that they would connect to the 2 little outputs/input on the raditor and thermostat. I will try and upload some photos to clarify my description. Just wondering if anyone knows what they are, and where they go.

The old motor was an air cooled Honda CB250N from 1980, which was a lot simpler, but it got hot in the buggy and we cooked ithttps://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/04/714.jpg, (also had to work hard). I have always had Honda'd but i have recently got rid of my XR70 which i got when i was 7 and the buggy motor is now a paper weight. We recently got a TTR 230A aswell, so it seems i am a Yamaha convert https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/04/715.jpg but we'll see how i go, i actually was drawn to Yamaha completely by mistake, the auction we bought the wrecked bike at, we had been at to buy a CBR600RR, but these went for such immense money it wasn't even funny. Yamaha seem to have more bang for your buck, so thats what it is. (does anyone know where to get big stickers to go on the sides of the buggy and the Disco tow pig)

I have a Haines manual but it doesn't seem to show anything of these hoses, if it comes to it, i'll whack the whole thing on the trailer and tow it down to the dealer or service place and see what they say.

Cheers
Will

Definitely not coolant hoses more likely breathers for the carbs or possibly fuel overflow or even vacuum. If it starts and runs correctly then i wouldnt worry too much.

So that begs the question, of what went on the little extra ports on the radiator. I'll have to have a bit of a look around, if not i'll block them off i spose (once i know what they do, if they're not needed)

Thanks

The small lines are balance breathers for the fuel bowls. The 2 on the radiator will be bleeder pipes.

Well we've decided the one on the radiator must connect to the thermostat to allow flow of water when the thermostat is closed, now we just have to work out what pipes on the carbies used to go to, All fun and games, then wire it up and hit the key (button)

I was going to do a build thread, but mum wants me to focus on the HSC, i'll get some up when i work out how, and get all the Landrover junk off the buggy as it is kinda like a big shelf when you have a car apart, but it's back together now so let the fun and games begin
