Hi Guys,

Well I got me a 2007 Defender 130 & am very happy with it :)

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/04/536.jpg

I picked it up in Queensland & drove it the 800 odd Km home here to country NSW. Very comfortable to drive & went well (gotta love the 6 speed box!!!!) but just out of coffs Harbour we were cruising along sitting on 90Km & then the engine light comes on & stays on ??? We pulled over & had a quick look at the book which says "seek urgent assistance & avoid high speeds" The 130 had had a service 400km before I got it so I rang the dealer back in Queensland to see if they could shed any light on it but you guessed it No machanic working on a Saturday. Couldn't find one anywhere :wallbash: So we drove home taking it easy, there was no problem didn't loose power, it didn't heat up it ran like a dream ????

Any ideas ? In Brisbane when I fueled up I added some of that Wynns diesel injector treatment stuff could that have caused the engine light to come on & stay on ??? I'm just lost & don't know what to do about it.

I love this truck & it's my first Landrover but am worried about this engine light staying on so if you Guys could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. I hope this is not a dudd :o
It's not registered here in NSW now so I can't take it anywhere till that gets done (Qld transport issued me a permit to drive the car home to NSW)

Help me please Guys & tell me it's OK !!!!

Very nice 130..

Was the factory tub added after purchase by the first owner ?

Did not the puma's only come in chassis cab until late 2010?

theres a service action about the mil light, or it could be your egr valve buggerd, very commen problem

Yes looks a great truck, but I'd be taking those search lights off. thats a big lot of airflow the radiator / ac condenser and intercooler is missing out on.

Not sure about the warning light but .

Hi JD,
My guess is the egr valve but could be many things. One quick check for egr valve is when you stop the engine do you hear a 'chucka chucka' sound? If yes then egr could be ok if no sound then egr is stuck causing the fault.
To be sure can you get your hands on a scanguage or similar obdII type device? You can plug it into the obdII port in the fuse box under the steering wheel and it will tell you the fault code that is bringing up the engine light. From there you can tell what's going on.
Nice looking truck by the way!
Cheers,
Chris

We've had a dirty maf sensor that caused our engine light to stay on.

Thanks for your help Guys,

I'm as mechanical as a block of wood  as I haven't had to worry about it as I've had a fleet car for a LOT of years now but now that I'm out & this is my truck (putt putt my daughter calls it ;)) when I get it registred I'll get this engine light looked at & then start learning what the mil light & egr valve is & where they are :eek2:

juddy, Mate as far as I can see going through the books that came with it there is nothing about the tub but the canopy was fitted in early 2008 ???
I am the second owner now :D

gitney, thanks for your reply Chris it's very helpful now I'll go & listen when the engine is turned off. Thanks Mate :)

Thanks Bunyip110, Mate can you please tell me what the MAF sensor is ???

Thanks again Guys.

Hi Jason,

It is a nice buy that rig! Very nice!

I tried buying it myself about a month a half ago when it was advertised (on carsales) in the hands of a dealer at Hervey Bay (Rod Grieves Auto), but alas it was not meant to be. A punter down there got to it before me and was driving around in it for two weeks enjoying being the owner of that fine vehicle, however his wife was not all that fond of it (hated it apparently) and as such he traded it back in.

I had another crack at buying it then however was stuffed around by the sales people at Rod Grieves again. They ended up telling me it was sold again and removed from carsales for a second time. Sure enough, it was back on carsales a few days later at Brisbane Motor Auctions where I assume you got it from.

I am very jealous mate, it is a top rig! Keep us in the loop with any updates or mods!

Cheers!

Ben

Ben,

Mate I too tried to get it when it first came on carsales.com but as they say "it wasn't meant to be". Then I saw it back on carsales on Monday & rang Brisbane Motor Auctions & spoke to the guy from "fixed price sales" paid the deposit & picked it up Friday afternoon.

Mate as you say it's a great truck & the drive home was great except for this engine lighty coming on & staying on but I'm just hoping it nothing major !!!!

I'm lucky in that my wife & teenage daughter came with me to pick it up & drive it home so sorry Mate it won't be going back.

Mate sorry you missed out but from what I saw driving home from QLD there are a lot of Defenders up there so keep on looking Mate & I'll do the same for you & let you know if there are any around.
Take care & all the best.
Jason

Mate, it's the Mass Air Flow sensor and is located in the lid of the air filter box. Although the problem could be a number off things, be sure to let us know what it turns out to be.
