I am looking at my options to fit an electric brake controller. I have read that some vehicles have a pre wired plug under the dash for easy connection. Does the P38 have such a plug?
Has anyone fitted a controller who can offer tips to ease the process

The P38 has no factory wiring pre-installed for a brake contrroller, however it is not particularly difficult to do.
What sort of brake controller were you proposing to fit?
I bought a Tekonsha P3 a couple of years ago off the Net and it came with a crade for mounting and quick release as well as a "wallet" to store it in when not in use. It was quite straight forward and works quite well.

I mounted the cradle to the underside of the panel which sits each side of the steering column and comes away with 4 long screws. You'll need (1) a 12V supply preferably from the battery via a 30Amp fuse; (2) a connection to the stop light to trigger the controller; and (3) heavy duty wiring (10-12 gauge) from the controller to the rear of the vehicle and through a connector to the trailer brakes.

cheers

I have just bought a Tekonsha unit online. One more question. The controller needs a feed from the brake lights. Did you pick up from the pedal switch or run a cable from the rear lights?

From the tail light -was easier. When I ran the power feed cable from the controller to the rear bumper socket, I added the trigger wire as well and spliced it into trailer socket cable behind the little door on the RHS of the load space.

I ran the cables internally along the edge of the carpet and under the door seals ...it meant removing the kick plates but that only took a couple of minutes

Hope this helps
