Pedal box colour

Out of the factory, what was the pedal box colour on a IIA? I've been guessing body-colour, but saw some black ones lately on a refurbished vehicle and started to wonder.

Can anybody help me out before I go for the spray gun?

I'd be more impressed if Christopher Hitchins had told me to paint them black based upon thorough research and rational thought, but Mr Taylor's word will suffice.

Hello from Brisbane.

Interesting accolade there because Mr Taylor also states in his definitive book on Series 3s that all 2.25l motors prior to the 5 bearing motor were officially painted 'Light Admiralty Grey'. The 5 bearing motors are Terra Cotta.

Mention this in the semi-recurrent queries on block colours and you are politely ignored in favour of 'duck egg blue'......

For what it is worth my pedal blocks are also black.
