Hi All,
Just in the process of purchasing a 05 RR Sport and the dealership has offered me an Alliance car warranty for $2700 3yrs 60000km's.
Are these worth the $$$ and has anyone used there's to do a warranty claim??
Thanks
Paul

My compressor on the RRS suspension failed. Replacement fully covered by Allianz extended warranty. No arguments, got to be happy with that.

I would definately do it Paul. Especially on an 05 Sport (or 05 Disco for that matter).
I am approaching 100K in my Disco 4 and about to take out the extended warranty myself.
One of the forum members sold his D3 recently with an extended warranty. He claims that it sold well, and fast because of it.
Good investment I say :)

Be very carefull which one you are buying.
DO NOT DO IT if it is an Alliance Warranty.
Allianz yes.
Alliance one has many out clauses and do not pay or want you to find second hand parts. Take the LR approved Allianz one.

I just found out this morning Allianz aren't going to cover my compressor on my suspension as its not covered??
Not happy as Iv'e just blown $2800 on a policy that doesn't cover things like this!!
They also said they wont cover the lower control arms that need replacing soon either??
Make sure you read the fine print on the policy as i thought i was covered but as i found out this morning I'm not!!!

The compressor should be covered. Have they said why it isn't?
I can understand the control arms not being covered though - wear & tear items normally aren't.

Who told you? the dealer? Have they put in a claim or just given you a verbal?

With the compressor Allianz said it wasn't listed in the basic policy and thats what i have??
And with the control arms the car has only done 80000km's and i would of thought they would last alot longer than that,so it wouldn't be wear n tear??

Allianz themselves when we lodged the claim this morning??

PaulThe control arms do last longer than 80000km but the bushes & ball joints wear. Most repairers replace the arm assemblies as it's easier for them (arms come assembled with bushes & ball joints).

Was it sold through the dealership?
Yes it was and I was under the impression I was buying the best product on the market?
If anyone else has the same warranty could you post your dealings with Allianz as I'm very disappointed to say the least??
Thanks

Never hads any problems with my Allianz warranty. Dealer has always made the claims though.
Were the repairs done at the dealers?

the joints and bushes in the arms arent covered. The arms themselves are.
If you had snapped the arms they would be replaced, worn out bushes are not.
The caveat being that if the failure of the arm is identified ad being partially or completely caused by the failed bushes then the arm is not covered.
in layspeak, so to speak.

Had bushes replaced twice under my Allianz warranty. Plus ARB bushes. Unless you were sold a different policy they should be covered.

Twisted, just back on the compressor
I thought the extended warranty, was an extension of the manufactures warranty, of which the compressor would be repaired/replaced if faulty.
When you say "not listed", what do you have to list every part of the car.
They don't think its your compressor to pump up your tyres do they ?

Guys,
Not sure if everyone is reading from the same book here.
Allianz issues "extended warranties" in many forms.
LR have there own ext warr which is underwritten by Allianz.
Allianz themselves also just sell ext warr to the general public.
If you have the LR version it will be in a little booklet with a LR emblem & it's fancy name which escapes me at present.
Allianz have there name branded on the front over of there booklet.
Generally the LR version covers more from what I have been involved in, in the service dept.
I have found that the Allianz one has caveats & you really need to be aware of what is/isn't covered, even tho' they are supposed to be the same to a point!
Cheers.

When I bought my RRS in Vic it came with 3 months/5000km statutory warranty ie seller fixes if an issue. Is not WA the same?? - if so, seeing you bought the car at the end April/early May and 3 months has not yet expired why are you not claiming through that - or have you covered more 5000km???

Landrover have their own Genuine Extended warranty’s. The Landrover Assured Extended warranty covers any repairs or replacements covered by the original manufacturers warranty, it also includes a Land Rover Premium Roadside Assistance. This warranty is available for an extra 12 or 24 months.
1 Year Cover $2995
2 Year Cover $3250

I doubt we are talking about a LR Extended Warranty - it is a 2005 RRS so original warranty would have ran out in 2008 - four years before the OP bought his car. On that basis I would assume this is a basic aftermarket warranty policy and not one that extends the original warranty.

Wow, I paid only $2600 last year for my 2 year LR Assured extended warranty. Must be a carbon tax adjustment!!
