Well if thats the case, and these Spitfires are so well preserved, then its one hell of a find.... Makes you wonder what else is out there.....

Being familiar with Burma, I would be less than confident about their condition, although from the description, they were packed for storage in tropical conditions, so there may be some hope for them.

Awesome !!!

Love the WW2 aviation stuff.

The story that inspired me most was the Lost Squadron of
Two B17 & Six P38 force landed on a glacier in WW2 & were found 50 years later under a hundred feet of ice . One of the P38's is bought back to life & flying again !!

Glacier Girl - The Lost Squadron (Recovery of a P-38 from beneath a Greenland ice cap) (http://p38assn.org/glacier-girl.htm)

A bit more locally, What about this Mt. Evelyn Tunnel, in the Dandenongs, Victoria during WW2 (http://www.ozatwar.com/bunkers/mtevelyn.htm)
hmmm my Ground Penetrating Radar could come in handy after all :)

Further reading on this seems the farmer from the uk, who found this lot, has been shafted by the uk pm, and a business man who did a deal on the recent Burma trip.

Ditto on the condition.
My family's from Burma so I hope to travel back next year and have a good poke around. Who know's what else is still floating around?!

Its over fifteen years since I was there, but I think the answer is - a lot of very interesting stuff. But a lot of it very rusty!

Arnt spits mostly alluminium so rust may not be such a problem. Hopfully some news soon if they were ready to start straight away:)
