I have posted about this before but my thread was moved to the FL2 forum.

Our FL1 wing mirrors have lost tension in the pivot joint and I am trying to figure out if there is a way to tighten them up.

its not obvious, even with them completely off the car.

I have seen spare parts websites where you can buy just the mirror housing, so there must be a way to somehow remove them.

Removing the 4 torx screws on the underside is my best guess, but it doesn't just come apart and I dont want to force it wothout knowing.

Thanks
Dave

I did some more looking around and I discovered that the parts I had seen online were for FL1 pre 2001 models.

It seems that the FL1 model 2001 - 2007 wing mirror assembly is one piece and appears to be largely unserviceable.

So, I made an executive decision to "set" the mirror in the appropriate position, but in a way that would have some give if the mirror gets hit, without ripping the whole door off.

I drilled a small hole diagonally throught the bottom corner of the mirror housing and through to the base.

The hole is a tight fit for a short length of Cat 6 cable which is rigid enough to hold the mirror firmly, yet flexible enough to bend if pushed.

It is all completely out of sight.

A small bead of silicone to hold it in place and voila, problem postponed !!!
