Does anyone know where to hire a decent sized car trailer on the Gold Coast. It's to pickup a Series 3 SWB.
Only place I have found is Kennards, and they have a weight limit of 1200kg!
Thanks
Geoff

Weight limits are all about not breaking the new towing laws, as discussed in another towing thread on here. I suggest you ask a tow truck operator for a quote. Or ask someone to lend you a trailer and a hand.

Don't know of anything newer than 2000kg limit on override brakes and the towing limit of the vehicle. So if there is some newer towing law that should be considered I too would appreciate knowing about it.

I suspect that a series three together with the weight of the trailer will exceed the override brake limits. A trailer capable of a greater payload will most likely result on requirements placed on the towing vehicle, either vacuum connections or electric brake controller wired in. Therefore I'd agree with bee utey in having to seek assistance from someone who is already equipped to handle a higher capacity trailer or getting a flatbed to transport the series three.

The servo at the corner of 19th ave and Guineas Creek Road, Elanora have a car trailer for hire and are much cheaper than Kennards. They may not be as strict/aware of the laws as kennards as I wasn't questioned, but that was over a year ago.

Tell them you want to tow a Corolla! That should keep them happy!

Try your local servos too. And check the compliance plate as well of the trailer.
When i picked up my defender the trailer was rated to 1900 kg, and the manual said 1840 for the defender.
The bit of paper i signed said something ridiculous like 800kgs.

1900 - 1840 = 60 kg That would be a very light trailer or if that is the payload rating then the trailer would not be using overrun brakes which I doubt they would be hiring out to you.
