Rapid Hitch & Mchitch coupling?

Looking at getting the Rapid Hitch for when the new van is ready abut also looking at the McHitch 3.5t coupling can anyone tell me if Rapid Hitch have a fitting for their unit the works with the Mchitch special Bal fitting?

Yes and no is the answer. It is not an off the shelf item but he will make one for you. Give him a call. He made one for me.

How do you find hitching up with the mchitch?

We are finalizing the inclusions on our new 25ft 3T supreme and the Mchitch loos nice and secure just wondering the ease of reversing and hitching it all together.

It can be a little trickier than a 50mm ball. It is well worth it for the extra security.

Yes define that for me too Mowog, I'm going to electric brakes and the McHitch looks like a good way to go, I figured it would be easier than the Trigg.

With a 50mm ball you can get pretty close and drop the van on the ball and it will in most cases move just enough to fall on ok.

The McHitch is pretty well much the same but you do have to be a bit more accurate than with a 50mm ball. You do get use to it pretty quickly.

Trust me I will have a McHitch over a tow ball any day the confidence of the van staying attached just makes it a winner.

I had the AT35 on my 3T B'Tracker van, and was nearly 'Divorced' every trip we went on.
Now have the McHitch, 3.5T unit, and love it. If there is a 'Trick' to it, this is because the 'Female' portion of the hitch, has a couple of, downward facing, protruding lugs that are designed to locate either side of the 'Tongue', this prevents the Female housing swivelling on the Stainless pin, and the gap between these lugs is 75mm/3", almost exactly the width of a standard tongue. Although you can hitch, at almost any angle in a 180 degree arc, you must aim at the swivel point of the coupling, and not at the hole that the pin goes in, because this hole is 90mm forward of the Universal joint, and therefore moves in a 90mm arc.
This all sounds so 'Long Winded', but is necessary if your van can not be manoeuvred easily, as is the case with my van. If you are able to 'Jockey' around your van, then there will be no issues.

Jim from McHitch is great to deal with and made the unit in less than a week for me.

We have a Trigg on our van and they can be tricky to connect, to say the arguments were very unpleasant would be an understatement, then one day I found the answer. Let the wife do the reversing and you give the directions. This would work for any hitch not just a Trigg.

No more arguments now and the van gets hitched much quicker and easier. ...;)

He dose good work. You may need to grind a bit off the pointy end of rapid hitch.

I put on a Mitchell Bros hitch for the added height to tow our new van coupled with a 6t McHitch, for a first time user of this type of hitch found it extremely easy and the safety factor has increased my confidence as well. Just remember to use locking hitch pins as there are a few locations around the country where the local kids have fun removing pins from couplings for sport. Can and has been disastrous on more than one occasion.
