I know a few of you have both Fergies and Landies. Question, can Series wheels and tyres fit on the front of the Grey Fergy. If so, which rim and tyre size is the best. If not, which wheels fit the front..... Rover, Vanguard etc, etc.

Fergies have 6 stud front wheels, our one has Dodge pickup wheels, with fergies centres welded into the back of them to get the right pattern and make them stronger, pop bought them years ago from a tractor place as he saw them kicking around, certainly take the weight better than the potato cutters, as it has a F/E loader, still gets used fairly often too, to move hay at one of the other farms and cut firewood.

Wow!
From memory the bolt pattern & off-set is fairly unique.

I'm away for 3 days & if no one else answers, I'll take one off & try a series rim on it for you.

you see other tractors around like cast rim fordsons with trailer hubs fitted to have removable wheels.

you have to look at thebearings.

most common thing is steel plate welded/bolted into a steel rim.

Hi All

If you are wanting to change from 4.00 x 19 to 6.00 x 16 tyre size, the outside diameter of both types of tyre is about the same.
On the wider 6.00 x 16 tyres the drag due to sinking in wet boggy conditions is a lot less than the 4.00 x 19 tyres.

The best way by far is get a pair of brand new wheels from either BEPCO or BARECO, they are not as expensive as you may think.
For BEPCO, Bepco - Tracpieces -- Your global supplier (http://www.tracpieces-online.com/index_en.php)
For BARECO, MF - Front Wheel Hub (http://www.bareco.com.au/files/massey2001/mf4.htm)

our long gone TED20/TEF20 had wider original wheels as it was front endloader.

Thanks to all for your information and ideas. I have seen some Tea's with non standard front wheels and was looking to do the same. Mud is not an issue as rainfall is not high. I will look into that wrinklearthur, and get some idea of price.

One really wants to keep the three rib tyre on the tractor as the wider flat ones from road vehicles causes rapid wear on the ball joints and steering box.
As previously said the rims are unique in the off set, but if the grey cells are correct then the 35 ones will do and allow you to fit a wider three ribbed tyre......

Anyone know if a Fergie starter will fit a LandRover Series 2, 2-1/4 petrol ,
I did see somewhere that the fergie has a 9 tooth pinion and the Rover is 10 tooth but otherwise the same ???

can anyone confirm please
