Just fitted the new fuel pump, and I left the ignition at II to purge which it did happily - but for only 30 seconds. I could hear the squirting and purging sounds but it kept cutting out to silent at about 30 seconds. Rave says the purging procedure cycle lasts for three minutes or until cranking is recognized from the ECM.

Is this normal? Ive repeated the procedure and same. The car has started (took a full 25 seconds of cranking after the purge) and now runs well. As an aside, the cutting out seems to coincide within a couple of seconds of the madman alarm. Doubt that's related though.

Turn the ignition on then hit the throttle 5 times (walk away and make a Coffee) this will purge the system Just turning the ignition on II will result in the fuel pump stopping after a short time.

Ah, lovely. Thanks. Couldn't see this in the rave procedure, but it does ring a bell now when I changed the fuel filter 18 months ago. Must have got the procedure from here :)
