Thought I would share.
For what it's worth...

Don't know how many of you like using a remote, but I find it useful especially when using a tripod to have a cable release.

Got a Shoot RC-300 (http://www.priceangels.com/SHOOT-MC-30-Wireless-Remote-Control-Switch-for-Nikon-D700-D300-D2H-s77582.html) for my D800E and it works a treat.

Can be used like a cable release - has a button on the camera unit works just like the camera shutter. Radio remote says it is good for 300m - not tested it that far.

Also supposed to work on:
D1, D2, D200, D300, D3, D4, D700, etc.
Presumably all those that have the same socket.

Also available for canon things - don't know much about them :)
Do a Google for reviews etc.

Best of all it's less than $20 with free shipping!

That is a good price. I've looked at these type of units before but they were all a little dearer + shipping. Did you buy it from that website?

Also, all those cameras do use the MC-30 connector as you supposed.

@dmdigital

Yes, bought from that website.

Works well. Very pleased.

Most probably not as robust as Nikon one but at that price...

I've gone with this one: bitshift - DSLR Remote (http://bitshift.bi.funpic.de/en/dslr-remote.php)

in addition to the regular Nikon IR remote.

I had the same wireless one with my previous camera. It worked well.
