Out of pure interest, I am wondering if someone here on AULRO is involved in engineering and project management where pipewelding and pipefitting plays a major role.
I am expanding my customer base for my welding business, and thought I would give it a go as well.
Happy to hear of anything interesting,
Regards Marc.

Well I'm contracting to the Water Corporation in Perth as a Project Manager. Plenty of pipe in this game:p. Hard to get into directly because of all the pre-qualified panel contracts and alliances but get in touch with the contractors that service Melbournes equivalent to Water Corp and get in that way. They have a Desal plant under construction don't they? Lots of pipe fitting in those. There's plenty of demand for quality because there's a lot of pretty crappy trade work around!

Thanks John for your note.
As said I want to explore all different possibilties. I was running a simliar business back overseas (Switzerland) for over 12 years and now looking to expand, especially in the oil+ gas industries and the specialised welding field.
I appreciate your comment and will have a closer look at the water industries as you suggested.

well going by your welding qualifications and your work on your 100inch special, Im sure it would be very informative. Only advice I would give is to keep the classes small so you can get the quality through to each student.

A few oil refineries down Altona way and then there is the Geelong Shell one. Also the gas and oil fields out in Bass straight. Might need to relocate closer to Sale for the oil/gas fields and maybe do work out on the platforms although if out on the platforms it will not matter where you live as they do time on and then a period off the platform.

Thank you for that info. I know Barry's Beach and I have even got the BOSIET ticket where they simulate a helicopter crash:eek:
Now I am focusing more on contract work in the chemical, power and beverage/ food industries as I did overseas.
Who knows? Maybe one of members here is Mr Foster! lol
Thank you again and feel free if you need some advice in the welding department,
m
