Has anyone else had a ZF metal pan fitted to their transmission?

I also had a look around for an aux transmission cooler for the D4 has anyone seen any around?

I have a 3.0l however I was looking for extra cooling because I do tow a heavy caravan.

But it would seem there is no add on cooler available .

I have been having trouble finding one.
My touareg has been towing our 3.5 tonne trailer without an extra cooler fine, so I expect the D4 to do the same. Both have ZF boxes.
Jordan rovertech in wa said there was not one available.....but could be made at a fair expense, and did not recommend it for warranty reasons (even though they agreed that it would help more then hinder, they said LR will try their best to get out of it, if the tranny fails).
It would be nice to have one though.

I also tow a caravan and the trans temp only goes up to 91c towing and without towing 86c so it's not a big jump. Seen overseas with none so we are lucky to have one as standard.

What do you measure your tranny temp with ? Do you have an app or an analogue gauge plumbed to the tranny ?
I have not yet found an app that monitors tranny temp.

Just recieved my metal pan from ZF in Sydney $242+GST , part No 1068 103 820 01 , looks like it can be drained and filled through the bottem of the pan which might make it easier to fill Trans etc. So will now service my trans with Life Gaurd 6 fluid at $34.44 per ltr from zf . Al

Can you give us more details on the Torque App and in particular the make of OBD2 module you are using to interface the app. I'm sure there would be a lot of forum members interested who wish to service there vehicles.

In particular those that have fitted metal transmission sumps need to know and monitor trans temps when changing the fluid to ensure the fluid level is correct when refilling the transmission.

It's call Torque Pro (OBD2 & Car) $4.85 from Play store (Android app market)
and the module is from Ebay (ELM327 Mini Bluetooth Auto OBDII Car scan Diagnostic tool) I think it was around the $30 mark?

It will scan for faults and give you real time info etc but I don't think it can reset your service message? Still working it out.

Look on YouTube about the app.

Thanks for that Rollin over, all I require at the moment is the ability to see the trans temp anything extra is a bonus but I had heard that some of the cheap Ebay OBD2 modules can cause problems. One being your vehicle will not start after using the module.

You do have to be careful. I did an upgrade to my Torque App 3 months ago, and now it triggers an HDC/EAS fault every time within 3 to 5 mins. I've let the developers know.
