Where to mount electric brake controller in 98 defer

Need to set up electric trailer braking.Know Ba about it .the controller I am looking at is a Prodigy.Quite bulky Where have you mounted yours in a 110 defer?

I have a 90 and have my brake controller mounted on the front of the caddy.. works well for me.. :)

I have a defender 110 wagon 2010 model and just had the prodigy P3 fitted the only place we cound fit it was on the panel beneath the steering wheel. At first I wasn,t happy putting it there as I thought it would be in the way getting in or out of the vehicle but so far it hasn,t been a problem. You have to be careful not to mount it to far away from the ignition and ther various places it has to be connected to as the wires are fairly short. Another option is the Redarc remote controller as the module can be mounted out of the way and the wires run to the control switch mounted in a convienent location

I have a tekonsha p3 mounted onto the front of the cubby box on the angled part, the manual control lever is in a perfect spot as its within reach when I rest my arm on the cubby box.

Just make sure you go with a proportional controller instead of the red arc type ones, much better all round.

I have a hayman reece unit fitted to the front of the tray below the cubby box. This unit is not dependant on a certain angle of fitment. Convenient place to be able to operate the over ride.

Mines not wired in yet as they will doi t next weekonce I'm back, the wiring will go in a small flexi conduit screwed to the front of the sloping face then off to the drivers side of the cubby box then it will go under the cubby box and off to wherever it needs to go.

I'll put the pics up when it's done :)

HI mary,

I have a P3 and it's mounted on top of the dash I the left of the steering wheel, next to the mud-pod. The other place I've heard of is on the dash in front I the hand brake (but I didn't like that).

Must say I know less than BA about them, but the info I got from this site was spot on. The P3 is easy to use and is very progressive and adjustable for the horse float.

I'm a happy bunny with mine, so is the mrs and I suspect the horses are too:)
