Today I decided to mount the ARB compressor under the bonnet for airing up after hitting the beach. Took only 15mins to get up and running. Got one 8m hose in rear 1/4 panel trim pocket and the other 10m hose under the rear seat. Cover does go back on when not using Air Compressor..

That looks great mate that's exactly where I want to put mine, but the CKMA model. Did you have to move any wiring? I want to put the stock plastic cover back on as well.

Just had to make a bracket for the glow plug relay and moved it across to the skirt, near the horn! Didn't disconnect any wiring!!

Cheers:)

Hi Rollin Over

Looks good nice fit, just two things to concider though the air line apears to be leaning upwards so sand and other cr*p will end up in your tyres, a cap may be a answer. Also the ARB sawitches are not good with water so a water proof switch may save you driving really slowlly to the servo.;)

Sorry mate maybe I should have mentioned that the cover goes back on so no concerns with any of the above you mentioned.

Brilliant, OL quoted me 1-2 hour labour to install, I noticed you have said 15 mins? What is the key for a quick setup?

Being a Auto Body Technician I tend to do a lot of wiring and installing different equipment to my 4x4 and caravan etc it really wasn't that long of a job, and when you have the tools and know how.

would you be able to describe how you mounted the compressor? what did you bolt it to & how?

thanks in advance.

I have mine mounted in front of the battery tray on a peice of flat aluminium, It is bolted to the 2 bolt holes already there.
It is then bent down a little. I removed all the excess wiring from the loom that came with the Compressor as i will never use it.

That would indeed be a great spot - except it is occupied by an Optima D34 and the Traxide controller. :)
So it's got to be the other spot I'm afraid but thanks for the reponse anyway.

Ah Ha!

Wasn't sure if you had a dual battery system.
My Optima is mounted where your Compressor is :-)

Howdid you fit it in there, there is hardly room for the little compressor.

Wanted to fit mine in the "extra" box on the drivers side ( I too have the Traxide system) but was not happy to move what was in there

It definitely fits after a little bit of rearranging. My setup with dual battery and compressor is the same as Sneigy's.

I\ve picked up my compressor and was looking at the install ont he weekend. I also have the Traxide system, so a battery is already installed on the passenger side.
Thus I'll install it as per Rollin Over's photos.

Question; The compressor comes with a plate to screw down first, then the compressor mounts on that. What is the best way to make that plate secure - is it enough just to screw into the plastic 'trim' piece, or are there better suggestions.

Thanks

Any chance of a detailed description of your installation installation? Have looked at mine and have been hesitant with what's in the box

Thanks

Are there any issues with heat from either of the two mounting options described in this thread?

I thought most compressors have a thermal cut off if they get too hot.
I left a bracket under the bonnet once it was wrapped in canvas and placed in the hole in the guard (passenger side), when I opened the bonnet and took it out it was too hot to handle, so I thought the engine bay was too hot for a compressor to survive.

Compressors get bloody hot when they are running so how would they go if they are already starting at 300 degrees before you even turn it on?
