K i have finally taken the plunge into the world of "The Landy" Disco 2

Have forsaken the tired old 96 Pajero and am about to pick up my very first Landy. 2 days and i will be driving away ( i hope) in a

2003 4ltr V8 only 43k on the clock. But i am confused a bit as to what spec lvl it is.. s , se , hse.

what was the difference between the S and SE.. i know its not the HSE.

Is there a dead certain giveaway?

I've only owned my first Land Rover for about 2 years and don't pretend to be a know it all but my guess is that at the very least, the best 'dead certain giveaway' would be that the S had cloth seats, stock single DIN face stereo and no tweeters on the A pillar.

The SEs had leather and a mid series stereo with tweeters on the A pillar.

The difference with the SE and HSE is that the HSE has been optioned up and had 18" alloys plus the top notch Harman Kardon sound system.

HSE never came in 03MY AFAIK, all D2's had the tweeters on the A pillar though, SE's have little speakers, i spose they are also tweeters on the doors near the handle, also ha leather and electric seats and the 18 inch alloys unless they've been changed.

. It has like a 50/50 Half leather Half cloth seats And tweeters on the door A pillar, Havnt looked at wheels. only checked the rubber quality not size.

I stand corrected then, if it's got cloth seats the 'leather' part will be vinyl, this makes it an 'S' as the higher specs had full leather. I also should point out that 2004 SE's came with 16 inch wheels, it had slipped my mind.
