Guess the question is ... how many other jets will all those crappy parts go into??

After all, they don't have 'air crash investigation' for nothing, now do they!!

One could take a test flight on the NEXT Russian Superliner demo flight.
Not the best outcome when you are taking customers on a demo flight;););););)

Formerly HS-VAC

Been around the traps, but still a bloody bargain price for 270 tonnes of scrap esp since the going rate of Aluminium is around $2000 a tonne = $540 grand

DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT: substantial
In the early stages of its takeoff run the aircraft experiences an uncontained failure of its outer right engine #4 (GE CF6-50E2). The entire aft part of the engine which incorporates the high pressure and thrust reverser module seperates and fell to the ground where it caused unknown damage to the runway and the airport fence. The pilots successfully rejected the take-off. Post accident inspection showed debris damage to the underside of the right wing. At the time, the aircraft was operating on a positioning flight without passengers.
NOTE: the same aircraft (c/n 23056) was involved in a nearly similar occrence at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in July 2008.

Notice the ebay Ad dosent show any nice shouts under the right wing !!

Ok lets pass the hat around lads. :) Should be able to get that much and a bit left over for a AULRO paint job. Would be a easy enough rebuild for any of the series crowd, they are used of working on old bangers with aluminium panels. Would it not be a great time share resource for the site. Hmm certainly would make gatherings a bit more interesting. :D Imagine the chat as one kicks a large tyre. Yes, yes mate we did get the Salisbury diff to fit was easy enough, oh and the series 2a dash cluster you donated looks good too, although the speedo seems to be out a bit.

$540k - $435k = $105k

@$25/hr that buys 4200 hours of labour.

20 men = 210 hr/man

8 hr day = 26.25 days to dismantle

Probably won't get much change at the end after incidentals :(

Naaw! .....It is going to take 16,783 spray cans of Protec Olive Drab just to give it one coat of paint  and besides it is 'Pick Up' only .....no postage registered.

Take out of that also that a fair % of that isn't aluminium or recyclable and would incur a disposal cost.

US $6.8 million dollars worth of recycling/parts.

One of their issues was disposing of hazardous waste, including depleted uranium.

Wow :o, that's a game changer to my equation.... hmmm

$6.8m - $435k = $6.365m less labour and diposal of useless bits is going to leave A LOT of change!

But 747's are so 1970's so I've decided to wait until the A380's hit the used aircraft lots. Actually this one would be good as it's fully optioned up with 175 million worth of extra's :o
Airbus A380 Superjumbo Private Flying Palace | LUXUO Luxury Blog (http://www.luxuo.com/super-rich/airbus-a380-superjumbo-private-flying-palace.html)

Current owner is Prince Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and he use's it to ferry his 30 wive's around to various Harrods outlets around the globe.

The depreciation is quite high so it will most likely hit eBAY sooner or later so i've set up a keyword search email :)

My Mrs is annoyed enough with the 2 x 2a's on the front lawn - she would be a bit too vocal for a long time if I even suggested it...

so I'll have to pass, too. :D

if they are smart they will have already swopped over all the lifed componets for ones that are too old to be of any value so it will be pure scrap value only.
