Remember when they had buggy racing from Catalina Park on TV?

I towed up a friend's Arbarth powered Fiat 500 up to events a number of times. That's back in the days of my 253V8 powered 109 SIIa SW. Evan Green had a look at it before they built the 4.4 Range Rover for the World Cup Rally.

I was there for Beechy's first race at Catalina, probably the one pictured with Jane and Geoghan, I remember Beechy coming out of the pits sideways in a cloud of smoke for the start of the race, fans loved it. I'll never forget a green Ford Customline (1955) tearing around and getting overtaken by Mini's in the corners and then blowing them (Mini's) off on the straights, real good racing, too bad that it's crap nowdays, Regards Frank.

Jeez that brings back memories.

I used to do supersprints up there in the 80s. A tad dangerous if you left the bitumen.

The "Tunnel of Love" was aptly named as I recall.

Does anyone else remember seeing the PBY Catalina flying boat that gave the park its name when it was parked/moored there ?

I remember climbing over part of it when I was a kid (before it was ever a racing circuit) .....

Great pictures.I really like looking at those sort of older cars and older tracks. With houses popping up everywhere it wont be long till alot of other tracks are sadly closed.:(
