With several members now with extreme underdrives fitted I am looking for the answer to the question....
What is your total final drive ratio and how do you find it works?
Thanks
Gaz :)

Hey Gary
Std low range in mine is 43.4:1
underdrive is 116.76:1
(269% lower)
I am running std 3.54 cw+p's
The biggest advantage of the Underdrive is that it doesnt mess up your existing gearing
At the Springs the other weekend the Underdrive was awesome.... I could idle everywhere including up the rock tracks behind the house.
At the wet levuka a few weeks earlier not so much!
You are more than welcome to have a go in it next time we catch up.

80:1 is good
120:1 is great
150:1 is gettin silly but still cool :D
anything over 180:1 is too much!

Love this bit
Pls note, although the Underdrive will fit the Disco LT230 transfer case it will foul the rear footwell so the bodywork will have to be modified to clear.
Pass the Sledge hammer please :p

I wonder how much 'adjustment' it needs? :)

Probably about a 10lb sledgehammer's worth. :)

I think Grimace summed it up pretty well.
If you go too low you can do as much damage because to the torque multiplying factor, I saw a brilliant youtube a while back of a jeep flipping over in slow motion because it just didnt stop - up up and over. it was going up and over a rock

Yes I think so Too, that and Pete's answer has made up my mind
I have two choices of underdrive box 2.7:1 (final Drive Ratio 79.8) or 4:1 Underdrive = Final Drive of 118.2
The Stock-ish final drive as it sits now is 35.2
I was thinking that 118 might be too much.. Thanks Guys for seting me straight
Additional up side of the 4:1 Underdrive is that it gives three choices of Final Drive Ratio of 35.2, 43.8 and 118.2

I have an Underdrive and 4.1 diff centres in my Defender and a final drive ratio of 135:1 and love it :D
And as Pete says,it is great to be able to just idle up places where previously you had to put your foot down.
And seeing that the truck is only a 200Tdi,it is great to be able to bring the revs up in a low gear to bring the turbo on,and still be doing no more that walking pace:cool:
Once you have had one,you won't go back

To be fair to drivers who do know what they are doing with theirs mods, your quite right
