Hi all, I have a disco td5 and i think I'll change to a late D3, from what I've seen and read, they seem a great improvement. The air suspention is of some concern, are coils the way to go? I'de welcome any comments about D3's. please.

You will not get coils on a late D3 - early ones only. Air suspension is not really an issue.

I went form a Td5 to a D3, you won't regret it. Like chalk and cheese. As Garry said air suspension not an issue, pretty reliable.

I went from a 2005 petrol d3 to a 2006 td5 defender. Best thing I ever did :)

I recently went from D2a to D4 2.7,the improvement is amazing.

To early to find any issues,it is a fantastic vehicle.

You won't be dissapointed with a D3.

I went from the top of the range D3 HSE V8 with all the bells and whistles to a 2003 D2a basic spec.......................................suffice to say....I miss my D3. On road/comfort/load capacity/interior etc leaves my D2 for dead. Off road...............however I prefer the D2.

That may be a little unfair as there was never any decent rubber around when I sold mine so can't compare apples to apples as tyres were a major let down for the D3. If I had to choose though....the D3 would come out on top. Sadly I wont be getting another D3...................looks like it will be a D4 instead ..................or possibly a Fender 130,

Had a D2 for close to 9 yrs and moved up to the 08 D3 and as you should and would expect no comparison in my eye's. The D2 was a great 4wd and took us everywhere we wanted to go, so still rate them highly, but stepping into a D3 is just something else.

I haven't had the D3 in any serious off road, but am sure it would handle it with ease, and the 6 sp auto is magic.

Drove a D2a at christmas and really did notice the difference between the 2 then.

BUT, you really would want to see some improvement when you fork out the $$$ and a 7 yr newer model.

Dont think you will be disappointed.

Completely different cars... The only thing even vaguely similar is the name!

The D3 is an awesome car. Make sure you get an Auto running on Air Suspension. ;)
