Quick question, seems a lot of you have brought parts in from the U.K.

I am still after a rear tail light for the D3, cheaper to bring in a pair a new LED D4 lights with resistors than source a used unit here in Aust
Have you paid full VAT ? 2 shops have said yes,but we had 8 weeks in the U.K. Last year, anything we bought was VAT free provided we took it out when we left.
Wondering ? Makes a big difference.

You shouldn't pay VAT on items you order & have delivered overseas.

I never have. But, you may have to ask for it to be removed from your final purchase price, as many companies systems cant do this automatically.

VAT is not payable on overseas purchases however if it is charged you can claim it back from the UK govt.

All of the times ive ordered from the uk its been deducted when they give me a quote for postage.
Its like gst, only payable if you are staying in the country.

You don't pay it, end of story. Any decent VAT registered seller will deduct it from the sale price, saves a load of paperwork and arseache. I'm always suspicious when they wont deduct it at source.

agreed with all the previous responses - there should be no VAT. Potentially GST when the order enters the country on this end depending on the total value of goods (you might go crazy with the number of tail lights?) but no VAT

I've had a number of things from UK. Have never paid VAT yet.

Thanks guys it is as I suspected, the dealer won't post outside the U.K. So there is no paper work.
