Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any advise, driving my TD5 auto home tonight, heading out of town, noticed that when it hit 2500 revs it wouldnt pull and surged, all the way home it wouldnt rev over 2500, got home parked up it revs over 2500 in park or neutral, but wont go over 2500 when in gear. there is no lights on in dash no warning or weired sounds, has anyone got any advice
Thanks

I have heard this could be a symptom of a failed fuel pump..
Can you hear the pump before starting the engine?

Failing at 2500 rpm under load is a sign of fuel being cut due to excessive boost. Excessive boost is often caused by a failed boost modulator but sometimes caused by a faulty wastegate modulator or a frozen wastegate.

Thanks for the start point on my td5, i found my turbo wastegate sticking at full open position, (not the fault of actuator) the actual shaft has flat spots on it, so i need to find a new shaft and flap, if i can replace it, it looks like a fun job. ive adjusted it back so it doesnt quite go to the position it sticks at, lost a little boost, but can put up with that till i get it fixed. :)

Mine did that except at 3000rpm. Was the MAF sensor. Replaced with OEM siemens MAF for $130 from the UK and now keeps pulling. Gear changes from my auto are also alot better now.

The above symptom is also consistent with the turbo sense line coming loose or splitting. If you have been the engine recently and played around with the air box this can happen easily. Again the result is the turbo waste gate not operating properly.

I had the same problem. I could hear hissing when the engine was running. Found out luckily :D that the vacuum hose to the air cleaner housing got disconnected when I changed the air filter. connected it back and she's as good as new.
Also had the fuel pump fail which led to the same problem not being able to rev past 2000 rpm.
So I guess check out the hoses and simple things first before go looking for the complicated.
