I have seen on other forums poll's with Axle width's from all types of makes but no one includes the poor old landrover. i was thinking there a alot of techno nuts out there and it would not take long to complete a list of widths for all the models of rover out there.

Great idea but the thread may be better sitting in tech rather than D1

I needed the axle measurements when I was organizing an axle for my trailer. It's not so easy when axle is axle assembly is still fitted to the car. I ended up having to clamp some bits of angle across the face the the rim mate the hub.

I think I documented 110 on the forum somewhere.

Landrover don't change much.

From memory:

SII/IIA/III are around 55" WMS-WMS (WMS = Wheel Mounting Surface)
SI are a couple of " narrower (roughly)

Coilers are about 6" wider than SII-III

don't know P38.

Measured a Defender Salisbury rear drum brake assembly at approximately 1556mm (about 61 3/8") WMS-WMS. Will do it accurately on Friday.

A Classic Range Rover/Discovery 1 should be very close to that measurement.

As Ben said a (Normal Control) Series 2A/3 in 88" or 109" Wheelbase is about 6" (150mm) narrower WMS-WMS but I will try to measure it accurately tomorrow.

A Series 2 is about 32mm (1 1/4") narrower than a standard (Normal Control) Series 2A/3.

A Series 2A Forward Control vehicle 109" Wheelbase is the same WMs-WMS as a Normal Control Series 2A/3.

A Series 2B Forward Control vehicle 110" Wheelbase with a wider differential casing is 100mm (4") wider WMS-WMS than a 2A Forward Control.

This is the best measurement as different wheel offsets affect the track width.

Unlike some other 4WDrives Land Rovers have the same track width front and rear so do not dance around as the rear wheels try but can't follow the rut cut by the front wheels when in mud or sand:twisted::twisted::twisted::wasntme:.
