So if my Haulmark PT1 trailer was designed to tow behind Perenties should it go in here or the leaf spring forum??

Maybe we now need a military Land Rover trailer forum?

Leaf spring, of course.
I'm trying to load the Crump and Cornish trailer into the 101 post. I was using Vodafail so no joy there.
Yes, a trailer section would be great.
Let me at it. I'll set up a directory structure bigger than the tower of Babylon.

I like the Crump and Cornish. I might see if I can get a few more.

G'day Mick, I'm very new to AULRO and recognise that first pic of RAAF Track Tactical from Ebay last year?

Missed it by that much....

Not about to put it up for sale by any chance?

Two must really crowd your garage....

Cheers

Ted.

Sorry Ted.
It's in really good condition. A friend works for a Military museum. They're after a few ex-RAAF Perenties. There is a possibility this trailer will join them.

It would suit a museum Mick as when I saw it on Ebay last year in Brisbane seller said it had never been used.

Have been looking at this site for a long time but only just joined and yours was the first post I came across, apologies for being cheeky but noticed you owned two of them.

Cheers, Ted

Yep. Got two.
Wanted to get one and put a camper top on it. When it arrived, I thought it was too good to do what I wanted. I hat a chat with a fellow I know who is associated with a RAAF museum. It would have to be donated but everyone can enjoy it then (for a small fee).
Then another came up that was used and abused, so I put a bid in and waited. No one bid against me so I got it and it is now in the process of getting registered and having my camper top fitted.
There are more still in service. They'll have to be coming out sooner or later. There was another auctioned not long after I got the second one. A fellow who bought one of the ex-ADF Td5's got it.

Asbestos ones....

they just sold a lot of about ten of these trailers at bandianna ,they all had there brake pads removed ,would anybody have any idea what sort of brake pads these might takeAsbestos ones....It really depends upon the date the trailers were built. The really dangerous crocidolite and amosite containing brake shoes have been banned from the early 1980s. However for trailers built before December 2003 there is a chance that the shoes contain chrysotile (white asbestos) and Defence Materiel Organisation therefore assumes that any vehicle with a build date prior to December 2003 contains asbestos, irrespective of the fact that they contain asbestos or not. Its called chain of responsibility and adverse risk avoidance.

Someone with the RPS should be able to give you the brake manufacturer part number or just contact track Trailers (Track Trailer (http://tracktrailer.com.au/)) who made them in the first place.

That's a one tone cargo. There's a thread about the brake shoes on here somewhere. Diana may remember.

I didn't think Track made these. Mine is a Crump & Cornish and I've seen some advertised as Haulmark.

Track made the RAAF Tactical and some of the N0.5's I think.

Track made the RAAF Tactical and some of the N0.5's I think.Yes you're correct Mick, only the track trailers were made by Track Trailers, interestingly my Haulmark trailer wasn't made by Track trailers either, but surprise surprise they were made by Haulmark Trailers in Qld. :o

So taking a long stab at it, the Crump and Cornish trailers are possibly made by Crump and Cornish, but don't hold me to it!

The Haulmark PT1-1.2 User Handbook specifies the brakes as:
Main Brakes Manufacturer: Cebco
Type: Caliper Disc Brake with C500 Hydraulic Override Coupling
Park Brakes Manufacturer: Cebco
Type: Internal expanding, single shoe drum type

As for the No.5 trailers, the original circa 1963 cargo variant trailers were made by the Government Ordnance Factory Maribyrnong (later re-named ADI) in Vic, and the workshop variant by Pressed Metals Corp, Enfield in NSW. Later No.5 contracts in the 1970's and 1980's were let out to various smaller manufacturers which could have included Track Trailers.

Yes Diana. You are correct.
The point I was trying to make, this trailer, the one pictured here, the one posted by thecanoeguy, the one ton cargo,
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

could have been made by Haulmark as I have seen some advertised as Haulmark.
I hope this helps.

As for the trailer, mine has exactly the same rims and tyres so they must be made by the same company. :wasntme:

Hi Mick,
What configuration of camper do you favour for the track trailer?
As you probably recall I bought the civvy version with butterfly top earlier this year. After lots of thought am almost sure I will fit a Cub type hard floor module to mine. Can access trailer proper via lift up bed and fit a pull out kitchen.
Relatively light and easy to erect/close and no dirt inside.Plus all those great track trailer benefits
Cheers,
mary

Right again Diana. I was looking at the wrong problem.
I have lots of brakes for them.

Mary,
I ended up buying a Trekmaster 9 (http://www.dingocampers.com.au/kits.htm). It was the only one I could find that was prepared to supply a camper top with a 1200mm drop.
I would have preferred to get and Australian made one made from a good quality canvas but I found the Australian manufacturers were most unhelpful. The best of them offered to sell me the canvas so I could make my own.
Dingo Campers were the best of a poor lot. The camper business must be booming.
That may be a little unfair. I had no problems at all with Dingo Campers. They were happy to order it in and make the sale which is not the response I got from any of the others.
I suspect you won't have this problem. Being a civy Track I suspect it won't sit as high as the military version and you probably won't require a camper top with a 1200mm drop.
Measure the height of the trailer from the ground to where the camper top is going to be mounted and that will be the minimum drop.

Keep your eye on the auctions, ebay, gumtree, etc., etc.
There was a guy in Queensland who wanted $7,000 for his. I asked if he'd go any lower. I think he dropped a couple of hundred. If you're interested I can see if I can find the contact details.
What? I heard you from here. Was that "Don't bother."?

I have been working on the Crump & Cornish the last couple of days. I have fitted new tail lights with 10-30V LED globes.
As the weight is not stamped on the draw bar, I had to get a weighbridge ticket as proof of it's weight for Vicroads.
The hydraulic overrun brakes are sort of working. I think it requires the slave cylinders cleaned. They work enough to get through registration. I'll get the shoes refurbished when I clean the cylinders.
All the lights work.
I'll book it in for registration next week.

Just wondering if you would still have a few pics of your crump and cornish behind your 101. sorry for resurrecting a old thread.

Thanks Gaz
