Brake + reverse lights

So the brake and reverse lights on my 1997 tdi aren't working. My indicators still work

I checked the fuse and replaced the bulbs for the brake lights but they still don't work.

Forgot to check the reverse fuse and bulbs for the reverse lights but will check them tomorrow.

Anybody have a solution or something to try???

Not sure of the wiring exactly, but there are 2 fuse boxes. One under the steering wheel, and one under the hood.

Sounds a bit like you have lost a common earth.

So turns out the brake switch was broken, accounting for the brake lights not working.

Still waiting on the reverse lights
