Does anyone have advice on repairing a very old and bent bumper? I tried to 'massage' the bumper on my 2a without too much joy, but want a much better outcome on the s1. Can heat be applied to make the metal more workable before taking to an anvil?? How much heat and with what?
Thanks

I found it easier to make a new one - trying to straighten a badly bent; heavy-gauge steel section, is fraught with difficulties. Heating it will probably only add to the problem by distorting it.

If you want a copy of an article I wrote on how to make one; send me a PM,

Cheers Charlie

as above, much easier to buy or make a new one.

Ideally an english wheel or better a planishing hammer.

Just use a standard 10 or 20 tone press, overlap your press plates and this sort of damage normally comes out pretty good.
