Hi,

Picking up my County V8 soon and am just preparing for the restoration and refurbishment.

Does anyone have general advice on best places to source cheap parts?

Experience with my Rangie has seen a lot if it's needs being sourced via ebay UK... however there are a number if local guys that are also very good like Graeme at BritCar in Nth Melbourne and the team at AMV in Ringwood. I have also had good dealings with Eric of Bundalene fame in Sydney.

I have had a great offer of parts from my first AULRO County mate DeeJay and was thinking of posting a wanted list somewhere in case some more forumites want to off load good old parts too. Is this a done thing around here?

We are in Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, any suggestions/feedback appreciated.

Depends on what you're after and how quickly you need it.
Locally I get quite a few parts from Roverparts in Ballarat (roverparts.com.au) and some from MLR as its only about 10 mins from work.
Classic Landrover (CLR) on ebay has quite a few bits and pieces. Never had a problem with anything he's supplied.
LRSeries in the UK has cheap prices, but you have to watch the freight cost. Great if you have a whole lot of small parts and you can wait a couple of weeks.
Suspension bushes I use Superpro sourced from Supercheap or Bursons.

You'll find that lots of people have upgraded things on their Counties and have the old stuff lying around, so if you're after standard parts for a refurb post it up in the wanted section in markets. Dont make direct requests for parts in the main forums or the mods will get you :wasntme:

Thanks for all that Steve. I really like the idea of "wanted" section when I know what "The Count" needs.

I want to keep him as stock as possible to drive the kids around town in. In saying that, touring duties and the odd dad and boys camping weekend will happen too.

Also, given he can go club rego in 3 years, I will be trying to stick with genuine parts and accessories (at least until the wallet starts squealing!).
