I got this 96 v8 D1 a few weeks back it's all standard apart for the exhaust.
It has 156000k on the clock, I got it for $1000 with 6 months rego because it has a problem, I'm thinking it's the MAF sensor, anyway I'll work it out.
Can't complain for the price.

I bought a 96 Petrol with 97000 on the clock12 months ago for $5500 with 12 months rego, seriously thought it was the buy of the year, you stole that one for 1K, what symptoms does it show that makes you think its the MAF
Someone here had a link to a USA site that has Disco 1 MAFS for around $120.00 so should be a cheep fix.

Thanks, I love it, I don't think I'll ever buy anything but a land rover from now on.
I think it's the MAF as it splutters when driving at around 2000rpm and is running rich and when I unplug the MAF it keeps running. Any ideas what it could be?

G'daqy Knicko,

If not maybe I can get to you one day next week.

Sean and Knicko, check that the IAC valve on the back of the plenum is tight, if it is remove it and clean the cone shaped valve and where it seats in the plenum with MAF/Hotwire cleaner/carb cleaner. Also check for fuel in the vacuum line (smaller of the 2 hoses) from the valve to the pressure regulator on the end of the fuel rail, clean contacts in MAF and plug with contact cleaner, push a thin flat screwdiver blade into the splits in the ends of the (male) pins to spread them a mickey hair and reconnect and disconnect MAF plug a few times. While you are there check vacuum advance and condition of air filter, also spray the hotwire with approp. cleaner, Regards Frank.
