L322 TD6 Crankcase ventilation filter

I have previously advised that I intend replacing that little filter in the crankcase ventilation system with a BMW option from their 2 litre diesel that is a cyclonic arrangment with no element.
Before I do this I am asking has anyone on the forum done this?
If so has it been Ok and does it still need cleaning out occassionally?
The BMW item costs $77.69 Australian dollars.

Not sure the BMW kit will fit ? see thread below. I would order a kit from one of the Brit suppliers with the updated part numbers etc

I found this one on ebay for $21au delivered. 290545353599 . They still require cleaning but don't block up like the cotton reel looking ones.
