Don't know if it's got anything to do with it or not, but since that's arrived, I can't get onto the website with my comp,, can only get on with my phone now. Am trying to do a system restore back to last week to see if that helps. It's strange, cause I can go anywhere else but here on the comp :(

Sorry for being a complete computer retard, but how does one do this - I want it gone too.

I use Firefox - just download the Adblock ad on.

Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com (http://www.download.com) and look for Adblock (maybe search for it).

twitter is for twits,

do a poll I bet no one here wants it,

my apple is normally immune to popups and so forth & its really bugging me, I don't want to have to waste computer resources this end to get rid of it.

The twit thing: It wasn't on my adblock subscription so I blocked it manually by right clicking on it. :) Gone now!:)

Adblock for newbie Firefox users is found under tools>add-ons and browse all add-ons

Not on twitter/facebook and any other social medium..

Must admit I would like it gone too. I can't see any reason for it. If you want to tweet something then go on twitter and leave the rest of us normal folk alone.

No use right clicking if you haven't got Adblock. :( With Adblock installed you get a drop down menu with adblock options at the bottom.

I mostly use the mobiPDA skin (on my phone - which is great as it's heaps faster and easier to read) and it's particularly annoying as it blocks out the first word of each line in the middle third of my small screen. Once I've finished reading a page 7 lines at a time, I then find it's sitting on top of the link to the next page in the thread. :(

I'd have thought a thanks button would have been a more useful addition to mobiPDA.

Edit: It's just disappeared - Thanks Inc! :)

as for using adblock to block the adverts..

you will be ****ed off if the site vanishes because it isnt making enough to make it viable..

i tolerate subscribers using it but banging on about it so non subscribers use it just threatens the viability of the place...

bit too many things seem the be getting taken for granted theses days.

I'd rather pay you a subscripion than waste my precious time waiting for endless crap adds to load, wasting my download limit in the first place, it would totally ruin my day to have to deal with all that **** again. Basically my traffic here would be right down, you can't have it both ways.

ADBLOCK ROCKS!!!

Hear that guys, Inc needs the cash, hit that subscribe button now.:twisted::twisted::p:p:p

Ok Guys, Look at Incisors point of view

Part of the terms of using google ads is your not allowed to tell viewers to click on the ads but read between the lines.

Ive got Google AdSense on my website & some of my youtube clips
I just checked my account, in two years the total its bought in now is $47.66.
Stats for the last week show I got 2 Ad clicks for 138 page views which gave me $0.59. When it gets to $100 they send me a cheque .
Woo Hoo I'll be rolling in 2004.

So if everyone blocks out the Ads there is a possibility the site could fall in a heap.

(also you do realise adblock software uses more of your computers resource and bandwidth that just ignoring the ads does)

Damn right. For the cost of a sixpack of premium beer, or half a bottle of scotch, or about 4 dvd rentals, or a pack of smokes, or lunch for 2 at McVomits................
you get 12 months of premium access, with minimal ads, to what is arguably the best LR forum on the planet.

Go on, smack that button. You know you want to.

:D Probably a bit more extreme than I was thinking, but I like your thought process...

Maybe a pop up when you open a thread that says 'Pay up now - or the Forum gets it!' :D

Oh, and just for the record, I have nothing against Twitter or that it had link from the forum, it was just in an annoying spot - maybe the link could be put up the top so it was still on each page, but would scroll out of the way when you moved down the page??
