HI all

I just want to add a rear internal light so that when I open the drivers door, the rear internal light comes on at the same time as the front.

I purchased a 300mm long LED strip light that has two wires coming out of it. I pulled apart the existing front internal light to get power. but I am lost on how to wire it up.

There are 3 wires to the front internal light - one goes to the metal backing plate and the other two join via a flat plug to the light housing.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Andrew

The interior light has permanent power with variable paths to ground. That wire to the backing plate is (should be) a ground so you can turn the interior light on without opening a door. One of the plug wires will be the other path to ground via the door switches (or ECU if you have one for interior light delay).

I found that soldering connections directly onto each side of the bulb socket in the light housing works well. The LED doesn't draw much more power and you can use the LED light without having to open a door.

bring it on over if you're out this way.

Thanks for the replies.

I connected the wires directly to the tabs that hold the bulb in the front interior light housing. Got the new rear light to come on at the same time with the door open.....but now with the door closed I can not get the interior lights to come on at all.

It was late last night when I finished the job so today I will look over the connections again to check everything.

Blknight...thanks for the offer...I'll let you know if I need any help after I re-check my connections.

Cheers
Andrew
