TYRES TYRES TYRES!!! Finally got the rubber underneath! 315 75 16's BFG MT's. Very nice. Just need to sell my body for food after that payment though. Got some new rims too, they are from dynamic, but i liked the circular holes in stead of the triangle to make them look more like the older NATO rims. Black of course.

Removed rear tyre carrier in prep for a new carrier to handle the 35" spare that is currently in the boot...just.
Shot of the ladder and rear LED's here too.

All done until the bar come now!!! Already have bought a tigerz 12000lbs winch, uniden radio and Arial.

Unseen in all these pics are twin batteries, twin battery displays, dual thermometer sensors for rear fridge, new head unit, amp and speakers.

Very nice build up. Looking foward to seeing some pictures of it in action.

Have you changed the diff ratio to turn those wheels, if not how does it perform.

So knuckled down again yesterday and put my bullbar and winch on. Also fitted my UHF to the ceiling console which seems to be a great spot for the uniden.

Bar and winch (12000lbs tiger z) weighed a ton, and my back sincerely regrets lifting the thing by myself and not just waiting a few hours for a mate to help. Not sure if i like the look of the ARB bar on it yet, as I had got used to the previous plastic bar i had trimmed to be slim line. Am thinking that i will probably get a custom bar made that is literally just a copy of the plastic bar in steel and with a winch cradle under neath in the middle. Not a fan of all the hoops and spot light mounts. Make is look like every other 4x4 on the road as ARB stuff is just so common these days.

Thanks David, Havn't changed the ratio's yet. And I was expecting to find it almost undrivable from all the posts and research i've been doing on tyre size. I had 33's in mind for so long, and then at the last minute just went for the 35's.

Short answer is....its not too bad. Look, you loose a fair chunk of torque, which is instantly noticeable in high range, but low range is still low enough for me atm. I think the only thing im not liking is that i find i have to slightly use more clutch when taking off from a dead stop in first. I don't have the best clutch in the world, so its probably not going to stick around for long as it is. I'm getting maxi drives put in soon, and will be doing diff centers with front and rear lockers at the same time. Thats just about $4-5000 away though lol. I've done this build so quick, i think i just need a break for a little while, or at least my wallet does. It's getting the ecu chipped in 2 weeks too, so that should claw back some of what i've lost to the tyres at least, but not in the way a correctly ratio'd diff would. One bonus so far though is that is that it has a higher top speed now :-) And it hardly revs at 110 on the highway!

haha, yep, white tiger 2" dropping kit. Definitely $$$ at $900 and something for 2 inches of height, but i was more worried with the install than the money when i opened up the kit and laid it all out on the ground! :-$ I just didn't want a body lift in it but was after more than a suspension lift. I'm thinking of ditching my suspension already though and going to a 3" bilstein lift. Or at least another inch in the front as with the dual batteries, winch, and bar the front end has dropped a touch...and thats with HD springs and shockers. An inch should level it.

Any chance of some close up pics of how and where you cut the front bumper?

Love the work so far. A question on your winch fit up. did you have to modify the bar to fit a 12000lb winch?

Hey Vogue.
Definately a chance. Here is the cutting line i used. looks great. I actually prefer it over my arb bar, if only it were metal and held a winch. i guess my arb bar is better for roo's and the like on long trips.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/06/789.jpg

The cuts line up with the top of that air intake in the middle, and the slight step in or bulge on each side. It's a pretty obvious line to follow when you see it. I used a 4.5" handheld grinder and it basically melted the cut. It worked really well and was really clean. You could then pick off any of the slag/dags left hanging. Very easy. Maybe 30 mins tops. You can then reposition the metal grill/grate that covers the air intake with a few well placed screws.
Cheers.

hey 4runnernomore,
no modification needed for fitting the winch. I did move the control box a little higher and just mounted with some metal cutting screws. The only thing im not happy with atm is the fairlead mounting position. there is a slight (maybe 1mm) overlap of the bullbar near the exit/entry for the rope. There could be a slight chance of slowly cutting/grinding the rope on this. I will grind it bac a little when i have some time. It did fit well though.

Cheers

Yep, it actually went on its first trip over the long weekend. We went camping up at Lake cobbler in the Alpine national park down here in Vic. Was a chilly one, but perfect weather. Got some serious new pin-striping down the sides now! She went well, but it did reinforce the need for the correct ratio diffs. Not to mention a little more power. Can;t wait for the ecu chipping. I was driving around with some pretty serious TD42 patrols though. Hard to get that power output with some more $$$ :-)
On the openroad with 35's and normal ratios, you just chew through the juice and always seem like your trying to get to 100 clicks. Even mist on the road feels like a 50kmh head wind :-(
Anyone have any 4.11 diff centers they're selling? :-D

I'd be ditching it completely and just going 4" straight up in the coils. You could retain the castor correction plates that came in the kit to save you getting new arms straight away but honestly i cant see the benefit of the white tiger kit. I run suspension stuff 4-5" flexi coils custom made to suit what i use the car for and i havent been able to fault them yet. heavily ladened, beach work, rock crawling and flat out rallying they do it all.

you will however need to go to an adjustable front panhard and i'd recommend doing something with the watts link. shocks too obviously.

I'd also rate my 4.11's as the best mod ive made so far. Using a chip to fix your loss in power is going to blow difs :(

awesome look d2 mate good to see more people chopping em up and running the big rubber

Hello.

Its a long shot as you haven't been on this forum for some time by the looks of it but... What is the offset on your modular rims on the D2? I am going to buy some soon but don't want to go too wide! These don't look as offset as -32.
