Paid Image Hosting

Thought this is probably the most appropriate forum to ask in. Does anyone use paid image hosting and what do you think the pros and cons of it are?

I currently use photobucket (primarily for my 101 project) and have been considering payiong for the extra features, mainly for the ability to store original size photos, and the ability to use FTP to upload them instead of the pretty average web interface. Its about $27 a year so not a huge expense and I may consider uploading personal photos (private of course) for backup reasons. Thoughts??

why don't you set up your own domain name and host your own images
at stuee.com.au

I use Flickr and pay for a Pro account. Works fine, no complaints.

I hadn't considered a domain and web hosting but having a quick look it seems a bit more work, and more expensive. I would consider it if I was writing my own blogs or something along those lines but falls in the too hard basket.

Also had a look at flikr. It seems very popular with photographers in all the reviews I read and seems to have more of a social aspect behind it, but after uploading some photos and having a play with it I don't like how it organises photos. It doesn't seem to like nesting folders or 'sets'. As my aim is essentially photo storage, as opposed to sharing photography with l'm leaning more towards photo bucket at this stage.

Will still be on the lookout for a while before commuting, only because once I've paid for one service, I'm unlikely to move everything across to another service.

Hi,
I'm very happy with Picassa, I only use it for hosting photos I'm posting on forums and it is quite easy to select the bunch of photos to up load, and then just a R click to copy the image URL to paste in to the text entry box on the forum.
It is certainly easier and quicker than the 2 forum based albums I have used.

Stu, most of my pics are in sets on Flickr. It's easy as, no dramas.
