I all not a big fan of the mag now but I saw on the cover route maps of capital city to capital city on dirt all the way. Did anyone get this issue or now where I can track down this route map? I went back to get it the next day and they had changed to the new issue.

Cheers Matt

Very generic. No route plans as such. Gives the recommended camping grounds on route.

i.e. Sydney to Brisbane starts at Lithgow, suggests camping at Youdales Hut on the way to Barrington Tops, then on to Chaelundi rest Area, Wild Bull campground etc etc.

It provides GPS waypoints of these campgrounds and suggests which Hema maps are required.

pm me with your email address and I will scan a couple of pages for you.

cheers, Steve

Just buy it. It's like $10 and the DVD of Fraser Island is worth it alone.

Their Sydney-Melbourne route went by dirt roads on the western slopes (not very challenging). About 18 months ago I got off the bitumen at Nowra and, except for a handfull of kms (e.g. 10 kms on Kings Hwy), travelled on dirt and fire trails all the way to the Vic high country. It was just a matter of finding a trail heading south and following it. Had to back track a few times and took a few days but one of the best trips I've done. I'll do it again when the weather warms a bit.

Tried all news agents and woollies and Coles and the iga. Looks like number 182 has the Fraser DVD so I'll grab one of them.

Its a trip where the journey is more important than the destination. More of an exploration adventure.

Thats interesting! Do they mention one has to have a key and permit from Nat Parks to access there?

Nope. All they said was:

"For some exclusive camping, you have to visit Youdale's Hut hidden in the Kunderang Gorges. Entry and exit is only via a single tight and very steep track. So tight in fact, you need to call over UHF first to make sure the coast is clear."

And:

"Youdale's Hut is one of the most exclusive campgrounds in NSW"
