As heard on the 12PM ABC Melbourne News & reported on the web:

Ralph Barraclough from Target Creek, near Licola, had a close brush with disaster this morning.

He was driving on a dirt road to Licola, the whole side of the hill slipped away and took the road with it.

"I was sort of left sitting on about 45 degrees," he said.

"I reckon I would have beaten John Landy or Herb Elliott getting out of it.

"The Landrover is still sitting there at the moment and I think there's every chance it's going to end up on its roof."

Warning of widespread flooding in eastern Victoria - ABC Gippsland Vic - Australian Broadcasting Corporation (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-06-05/victoria-lashed-by-second-day-of-wild-weather/4052172/'site=gippsland)

Hopefully it can be saved.

He's got a number of Landrovers salted away up there in the hills.

45 degrees? No problem for a Landie!

Yes, I heard that driving home from town this afternoon. Been raining all day here, after an inch and a half over the weekend.

On Sunday night the young lad next door followed his dogs into my place - then walked back to his house and got his fathers Landcruiser 80 wagon to pull out his Hilux. Then walked home and got his father's tractor to pull them out. Then walked home.... and phone me last night to tell me they were there. They still are - I had a look this morning, and I would not go anywhere near then until there is about a week of good drying weather.

I assume you're near Wagga JDNSW, our farm is at Grenfell and i know what you mean about recovering vehicles after a few inches of rain, the Cruiser ute spends a lot of time underground haha, the fergy tractor has been left out for weeks at a time at the other property trying to recover it, end up needing to drive the 4wd tractor out to pull the landcruiser but leave the fergy, a ot of people don't understand what its like.

Landrover roll over angle (http://www.goatpark.force9.co.uk/tempsite/rollover.htm)

Theres a stick holding that land rover from falling over.
But yes Landrover do have an excellent rollover angle,... until you start lifting the suspension and adding a roof rack, but I don't think this is relevant to the poor bloke that got caught in a Landslide

No, nowhere near there, but after the rain we had at the weekend you would be well advised not to drive off tracks anywghere round here. Tracks where the traffic has compacted the soil need a lot more rain than this, but low spots can be a problem, unless we get good drying weather, as runoff pools.

A black D2 was lost in the winds in Sydney yesterday as well. Tree across roof, not a good thing to happen in either case and luck he got out.
