View Full Version : Hose Reels air and water.Your opinions pls

Looking at buying 2 x 20m wall mounted auto retractable/lock water hose reels and 1 x 20m auto retract/lock air hose reel for the workshop/garage.

Options are ;

Air hose reels
Local Tool shop - Jamec-PEM $ 145 (Same thing on evilbay- $199!!)
Supercrap- SCA Brand $ 80

Water Hose Reel
Local Tool shop - Jamec-PEM $ 145 (Same thing on evilbay- $199!!)
Bunnings - Holman Brand - $ 90

Are the Jamec -PEM ones that much better?

Pete, they are probably out of the same factory, i'd go the supercrap ones if they ok in the shop.

After a recent experience buying hose from Supercrap, I wouldn't touch ANY hose from there (in fact I now avoid going there altogether).
I've still got air hoses from 15 years ago when I was still on the tools. Nothing super special but decent hose from an industrial supplies/tool type place. Cheap hose doesn't last, is shocking to work with (usually hard/inflexible) and IMO just not worth the money.

What hose did you buy from Supercrap?
So , you reckon the Jamec -PEM hose would be better for the extra $65?
I guess you are saying that the hose is poop not necessarily the mechanism.
The Jamec does have a 5 year warranty!!

Ya gets what ya pay for!!!

Hose I bought was 3/4" heater hose. Measured at 17mm and was that hard you could have used it as a hammer. Impossible to fit as I discovered after cutting a piece to do the job on my falcon. When I went to return it I was given the "no you've cut it - we can't put that back on the shelf".
Things went downhill rapidly from there (including a statement of "Oh - its only like 2mm smaller..." from the manager, but I got a credit and didn't go home in the divvy van :angel:

It might look like chocolate, but if you're only paying for crap, and it feels like crap - then it probably is....
