A couple of threads have appeard recently about noisy steering and steering racks being replaced - thought I might share my experience.

I have a 2011 2.7 D4 and from new the steering made a bit of a grinding noise at times.

Took it to the dealer who did a few things, didn't fix it and it went back in and they replaced the steering column. They said if that didn't work it would need a new steering rack. It was much better there was still a bit of grinding on occasion.

Anyway, have moved up the coast and went to a new dealer and they found some sort of earth cable was rubbing on the steering column. It seems to have resolved everything, but time will tell.

Cheers
Lucas

Are you going to seek a refund on the cost of installing that steering column that did not need replacing?

They did wash the car "for free......" - it was all under warranty...
