A couple of threads have appeard recently about noisy steering and steering racks being replaced - thought I might share my experience.

I have a 2011 2.7 D4 and from new the steering made a bit of a grinding noise at times.

Took it to the dealer who did a few things, didn't fix it and it went back in and they replaced the steering column. They said if that didn't work it would need a new steering rack. It was much better there was still a bit of grinding on occasion.

Anyway, have moved up the coast and went to a new dealer and they found some sort of earth cable was rubbing on the steering column. It seems to have resolved everything, but time will tell.

Cheers
Lucas
