Well done thats a great little find - I can also see within the pictures its been militarised (if there is such a word)

I must admit it is always good when you pick a vinatge car up you are able to drive on and off the trailer (with a landrover brakes are optitional).

The HO HARS have got a cab 12 Chevy C60L too.. 1941 vintage Canadian built 4X4 truck

I have a little 2 wheeldrive C8,same cab , but it sits on 13" wheels

The roof is missing from the C60L . It has its original tray .. rare item

While I was at work yesterday, he drove down the drive and back:) he said he didn't think it was too bad, we will see how he goes on along trip;)

I suppose I should update the progress:)

Connie-sue is on the hoist with all wheels taken off and brakes inspected:)

All 4 wheels will have new cylinders and brake lines on by the end of the week:D

Still chasing my friend that does break shoe lining re bonding:)

And she as been given a thorougher gurney to get the mud and grime off

All I can find out is it was delivered by Grenville Motors to Harold Kensell and Co Tamworth on 8/12/50.

there seems to be no link with the any military involvement.

Ummm the pic is the original wheel cylinders, got them refurbed:) why get rid of something that can be reworked:);)

Such a shame that the history we were told about the vehicle hasn't proved to be correct. Still a very nice little vehicle!

Great to hear. The Cast Iron ones are the best anyway. It was a bit hard to see from that picture.

Pulled the semi floating axles out to refit the new bearings and oil seals:(

What a job:( 3 and half hours later it was half done:(:)

hopefully put back in the next week or so I can driver her again:D

where did you get the bearings from i got mine form a victorian company wont say which but they did not press on exactly and i remember taking them off quite the little press job

The bearings we bought look different to the ones we pulled out, haven't put the new ones in yet, will let you know if they work;)

While at work earning the hard earned;) hh and Timj put all the bearings etc back together:) rear diff back and leaking seals replaced:)

Seems I told a white lie there, not quite all together, only partially:(

HH decided to build a 20 ton press last weekend to fit all the axel bits back together....

After zipping out to the Rocklea swap meet, nothing we wanted, there where landy bits there however:)

We cleaned the front shaft and now need a new uni, it was abit sloppy:(, but prob 61 years old, what do you expect:)

Don't you all love uni joints:mad:

Nearly got it back it then ..crunch... tap it out and the needle bearings are half stuffed:(

pulled the other one we bought apart, used the needle bearings etc and went in perfectly:D

now to fit the front prop shaft, then should be back on the road:D

In SA that plate is $255 per year + rego!! (same cost if on historic rego!)

No they are not:) connie-sue's wheels are at the sandblaster, we had those rims and tyres here. When we get the rims back we will but the right size tyres for her.

Probably 6.50 or 7.00 x 16 depending what we can get, there is not a lot of choice out there:( and they are quite expensive for a special interest vehicle. ahha a nice new import market there:)

found a blacksmith close to home that will get the narrow springs back to original speck:D We gave him the workshop dimensions and he said he can do it:D Very exciting:D

Fitted the springs:)

The ones we put back on are the original ones as they were the better pair:)

So left lift approx 20mm and right 28mm. Though we can't compare it to the other springs. BTW she still sags right:( and I am on a diet:D:D:D

me too! got my first easter off in gawd only knows how many years :)
and got permission to go to Melrose (just down the road from my old home town!)

Carrie and Alan are now 3
little Eli arrived 15 of Sept 5 odd weeks early
now over 5kgs and a bundle of energy
the story is they are planing to go we will have to wait and see.
