Hi Everyone,

My apologies if this subject has been covered before, I've tried searching with no real result.

I've recently had my ECU remapped by Bruce Davis, after a brief meeting with Bruce at the Maitland 4WD show and a steer of his Puma 110 I was sold. What a revelation!
This is surely how the 2.4 should operate.
I could only imagine if someone did the same mod to a Transit Van... OMG Unladen the thing would be swapping ends in the wet everywhere!

This has brought me to the question of the merits of installing an EGT/Boost gauge.

Vehicle: 2011 110 Puma 2.4

I've a few questions:

1. Has anyone had any experience with the Autron EGT/Boost combination gauge?

2. Where in/on the Puma dash would be the best for installation?

3. Is the installation of the sensors a realistic DIY project or should I just fork out for someone who knows what they're doing.

4. Will LR get their cranky pants on when it comes to warranty

5. Regarding warranty, has anyone had issues with EGR valves (that have been closed off for some time due to the remap) re-opening and operating when it comes time for an LR service.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Heres where I put mine - cheap dash pod from Ebay. Also where EGT sender located - get someone to do it unless you are very good. Have to take manifold off to drill and tap for sender so as to be absolutely certain no frass makes it way through turbo.

Ok thanks,

I was wondering about drilling swarf making its way through the turbo.

That looks like a very neat install.

Cheers

Without question. Your engine and drive train will now be considered out of warranty.. or at the very least you will be up for an argument.

can u not put the egt after the turbo then u wouldn't need to worry about swarf

I think if you sample the temp post turbo you have to factor in a large temp drop due to the drop in pressure after the turbine. I stand to be corrected though.

The sensor needs to be in front of the turbo to get an acurate reading.

Opening up an old post again.....

Guys, Just looking for some advice here......

I'm going to have to replace my Exhaust Manifold in the near future as it has a crack in it.... My question is should I get a port welded/drilled into the replacement Exhaust Manifold while it's out in prep for a future installation of an EGT Gauge?

I know quite a few people run EGT gauges in their Tdi300's, etc but in a 2.4 Tdci - how important are they really?

Mine has the Bruce Davis remap; larger IC & Air intake, centre Muffler removed; std radiator.... so, do I really need an EGT or is it more beneficial if towing?

IMHO it would be the first thing I'd do on any engine that has a remap done.
