I think any tyre company that offers a tyre mileage warranty on an off road tyre and then voids that warranty if you venture, not only off-road but outside of the Metropolitan areas of major cities. Then that tyre company shows that it has no confidence in it's products, so why should we, there are other problems with cracking treads and sidewalls too, if you do a search on Coopers on the forum you will find plenty of info, Regards Frank.

In my experience it is only ST's that chip and blow out. My Discovery has STT's on it, mums has ATR's on it and dad's cousin had ST's on his. The ST's blew out and chipped as everyone says they do, all are horrible tyres in the wet, but the STT's and ATR's do not chip, crack or get blowouts, we've also never had a flat with these tyres, however the previous Michelin 4x4's and Bridgsetone Duelers got regular flats, i would buy STT's any day, but never an ST.

The new Zeon LTZ looks to be a good tyre though, i think they might replace the stock ones on the D4 when its due for them. And the Discovery 4 expedition this year used them, so they must be alright.

Cheers
Will

Your wrong there Frank - it is even worse - it is not Metropolitan areas of major cities but Capital Cities. So if you buy your tyres in Sydney you get the milaege warranty but go up the F3 to Newcastle and buy your tyres there you get nothing.

You can drive outside Capital cities but it is up to the dealers discretion whether the mileage warranty is honoured - meaning normally not honoured.

The Cooper Mileage Warranty is a joke - but to their credit the terms are not in the small print but are clearly outlined on their website.

HERE WE GO AGAIN........hahahaha........all I can say about coopers tyres is we put them on one of our mine spec hiluxes and it wont drive in a straight line.....no Doris , wheel alignment is correct, yes bruce, we run best tyre pressures.....we have Mickey mouse thompsons on the other hilux and it tracks straight as a die.
Now the OTHER Coopers......yum....specially Best Extra Stout in this weather....mmmm

Mickey Thompson is a boutique Cooper Brand, and produced by Cooper.

The list of innovations from Mickey Thompson Performance has grown along with the company. Cooper Tire & Rubber Company's purchase of Mickey Thompson Tires in 2003 has helped to continue the company passion for innovative product design and helped to grow Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels into an industry leader with a network of thousands of dealers worldwide.

From Mickey Thompson website

As is Dick Cepek
Today Dick Cepek is still running under the flag of Mickey Thompson.

This link is a good overview of Cooper.
I am surprised it is so big and also produces in China as well as UK and Serbia.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company - Cooper Tire (http://coopertire.com/About-Us/Our-Company.aspx)
Note that Avon Brand is owned by Cooper
Ther eis no mention of specific facilities for specific brands , except China so I think I have to assume that the factories produce a variety of brands.
I looked up MTs head office and it was only a distribution centre.

Regards Philip A

Brands

Cooper, Mastercraft, Dean, Starfire, Dominator, Roadmaster, Avon Tyres, Mickey Thompson, Dick Cepek, Chenshan, Austone and Fortune.

Not the best choice of descriptive words from Coopers about thier reputation.
Fearsome, according to the dictionary means frightening.:p

As Garrycol says, they are upfront in thier advertising

I have Mickey Thompson ATZ'S and have been brilliant in the wet, dry and offroad. I have about 13000k on them now and love them, a really good tyre.

Well don't whinge if coopers knocks back your mileage warranty when you go off road, have a pic of a cooper tyre that was knocked back for warranty (not mileage warranty), will post when I find it, Regards Frank. P.S. this is an STT

The tyres were free, so i'm not comlplaining. They came off dad's cousins second set wheels for their desert trip when he sold his D2 and still look new after doing the Simpson. The steel wheels now have the old Duelers on them and are on my dune buggy trailer, they match mums car, which will one day be mine when it gets replaced and i buy it. No point in putting D1 wheels on it as i had the steelos there. If i have any problems like that i won't touch Coopers again though, my cousin has MT Baja MTZ's on his Patrol and is very happy with them, it will depends a lot on price with what i replace them with and how the tyresw go, but they understeer like mad in the wet haha, but thats what mt's do.

I have put Cooper LTZ on my D4 recently. I am about to do an outback trip so I will see how they perform on less than graded roads.
So far with a few thousand K,s on them mostly on blacktop I have a good impression.

My best mate had STT Coopers on his Jackaroo and they went out of round, the second set to do so.
Now he's trying the new AT's for free so we'll see how he goes with them.
Personally, I wouldn't fit Coopers with what I've seen.

Have Coopers At's on all our work utes that aren't V8's and no issues at all.

Crap all over Dessert Duellers and Cheap arse stuff they had on b4.

Off road is a tough place to be and lucky land rover owners are so isolated to what actually goes on at the contact patch.

Had 2 Cooper ST's delaminate on me earlier this year on a trip across the Nullarbor. They caused extensive damage to right rear panel of car.
These are a brand of tyre I will stay well clear of from now on, as well as being very scary in the wet.
Replaced Coopers with BF Goodrich KM2's.
