I have a 86 county ( Isuzu) and want to change the steering wheel. Are the countys in the UK fitted with the same steering wheels as the countys built in Australia? The reason I am asking is that I have a Moto Lita wheel, but they say they dont make a boss kit for the Isuzu county. Are there companys here that make up one off boss kits ? The county at the moment has the range rover type steering wheel.
Cheers Chris.

From memory a Holden boss kit will fit.
Why would you think an Isuzu powered county be different to a V8 powered County? Remember that cars are built from parts bins

Isuzu County in australia is same as V8 in UK in 99.9% of bits, the 1% is the Isuzu conversion.
Boss kit for V8 110 is the same. I wanted a Defender steering wheel in my 110, had to change the column as the top taper and spline etc is different to the 110:(

speaking of which JC, I take it I cant fit an earlier steering wheel to my 98? The Defender ones are bloody stupid. They start to deterioate from day 1. The top 1/3 of my wheel is about half the dia of the original....most of which ends up on your hands and over any nice pants you may have on....

I have an idea that the steering wheel fitting changed about the time the Defender name came in (possibly as early as the push button door handles), and changed back some time later, probably with the Tdci.
As JC says, the fitting of the Isuzu engine did not change the steering components. But you need to be careful that the year is correct. (Of course, there is always the possibility that someone else has previously changed it to a later or earlier steering wheel and column!)

I fitted a Defender steering wheel to my '84 V8 County. I think it was from a 300Tdi (I'd have to ask Tusker on this forum re the year model as I bought the wheel from him). It was a bolt on fit. Tusker had fitted an aftermarket wheel.

I recently drove a customers Puma 90 with the standard leather clad steering wheel. I thought it had a very nice feel to it, not sure about fitment compatibility.

Murray, I priced a factory leather one when I ordered my one, $1800:eek:
Needless to say I have a 1996/7 model wheel in standard trim.

Jeeez, you'd want it to feel good for that sort of $$$$
I'll be sticking to my leather clad County wheel then.

I thought I posted this earlier  anyway, my 1998 300tdi with OEM steering wheel is NOT the same as pictured above.....maybe they changed the spline when they went from 200-300tdi...thats to say the 200 may be the same as the earlier LR110's

Ask Max (Tusker) if his car is a 200 or 300Tdi. Wait. I think Max might have a Td5.

Thanks for the info guys. I have sent an Email to Moto-lita in the UK and asked them to make me a boss kit. Their web site states that they will make them up if they dont keep them in stock. See how I go.
Cheers Chris.

I have a 86 Isuzu county. Its the model with the range rover steering wheel. I havent got a pullers to get the steering wheel off. Anybody know how many splines and the outer diameter. Im getting a boss kit made up with Moto Lita in the UK. It should be the same size as the UK V8 ones . Didnt want to wack it too hard with the hammer.
Cheers Chris.

All you need to pull it off is a bit of steel and 2 bolts. There are holes each side of the centre shaft in the steering wheel .
Just grab 2 bolts about 3/8 UNF??? long enough to go through a bit of steel sitting on top of the centre shaft. Drill 2 holes in the steel in the correct position , then tighten the bolts evenly.
Do not whack the steering wheel as I think even an 86 has a collapsable part.
