Hi I'm just about ready to get my engine running again but I'm not to sure about the injector pump timing I would just like to know what size bolt is it that locks up the pump?
Cheers shannon

New pump housing required, and it bent the shaft, too.

Not pretty even at cranking speed.

My guy got lucky then...

stripped his brand new timing belt and bent a couple of pushrods.

Well, very lucky then!!

The one I saw, we thought it would be OK until a river of diesel poured out from the timing cover drain hole... fairly tore a big piece of the pump housing away surrounding the front shaft bearing and seal.

There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth

I suspect that the guy who was doing his (he's helped me out with one) was winding his over to make sure that after a couple of full rotations everything was ok, instead of using a spacer and the crank bolt I reckon he's just keyed it over on the starter but fortunately hasnt fully set the tensioner.

Before using tool, a tag/note taped to ignition key as a reminder not to crank before removing tools.
mistakes usually happen when people rush to complete a job and they're tired at the end of the day.

Like when I, after turning the engine over by hand 20 plus times, checked all tools had been removed from the engine bay then left the torque wrench on the crankshaft pulley and started the motor for the first time... The bolt came halfway off the thread. I wish I'd been turning it over anticlockwise.;)

Well could be no worse than the bloke that brought me a Freelander engine under his arm and aked me to do his valve timing & belts.
After removiing all the the special timing tools I was about to pull the grenade pin from the tensioner--when the bloke said "Don'ty bother I will do that later"!

Suffice to state he forgot and the belt teeth sheered off in service and caused a whole lot of valve and cylinder damage.
Crickey mate what a mess!
