Well, we are presently sitting under a ghost gum, looking at a magnificent starry night sky, enjoying a nice red ....or two. Swag is prepared and life can't get much better!
We have driven from Quilpie through the Diamantina Lakes NP to Boulia then up to the Isa. We have now set up our night camp about 5ks from Barkly homestead. Heading north tomorrow.
Will keep in touch with our trip.

Rug up at night Eric, it gets pretty cool on the Barkly this time of year. Nothing like a Gidyea fire to keep you warm.

Half your luck, that gidyea wood turns up good on the wood lathe, especially for pens, ;)Bob

No, it wasn't us, we were about 5kms out of Barkly last night, in a spot where we have camped before.
We have done the Tablelands run to Heartbreak many times and reckon the sunsets along the road are the best anywhere.
We are presently just out of Mataranka
We also passed a Camel Trophy Landrover today around Elliot, several other Defenders and a near new D4 towing a van.

Hi Brian,
Yes it was a bit windy, but we put up a good wind break and we also have a very warm swag and good sleeping bags. We were as warm as toast!

Ah....another wood turning tragic!! I have made quite a few things out of gidyea and the two colors look brilliant side by side.
It's amazing how much "trading power" you can have swapping a piece of gidyea with something else someone has!!
We always bring a few pieces back on our return home.

Off to Three Ways and up the highway to Adelaide River where we called in to catch up with Mark (Marko66). Once again, he was kind enough to allow us to leave our boat & trailer at his place while we spent a couple of days in Darwin.
We had two very pleasant days with Sharon & Alfred in Darwin and then headed back to Adelaide River to pick up the boat. We spent a really nice evening with Mark & his close friends at the Adelaide River Inn. Mark is a passionate Landrover man and such a friendly guy. Thanks mate:D hope to catch up again sooner than later.
